Royal wedding bells are ringing for Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling.
On Aug. 1, Phillips — who is the nephew of King Charles — announced his engagement to Sperling, a pediatric nurse from Gloucestershire, U.K.
“Mr. Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, and Ms. Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr. Rupert Sanders and Mrs. Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement,” spokesperson Gerard Franklin told Hello! in a statement.
Peter is the eldest grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth. In 1977, he was born to Princess Anne and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips. He was previously married to Autumn Kelly from 2008 to 2021, and will be the first member of the British royal family in his generation to divorce their spouse and remarry.

Sperling is a pediatric nurse for the NHS (National Heath Service). She is also a freelance writer.
According to her Woman Alive bio, Sperling “is passionate about early brain development in babies and seeing children thrive.”

Sperling has a daughter from a previous relationship.
In March 2024, Sperling wrote about her experience being a single mother for Woman Alive, recalling how at the beginning, “resources were scarce, and the future was uncertain.”
“Yet, in the absence of material security, I discovered the strength and life that comes from true selfless love,” Sperling continued. “A love that is able to be solely devoted to your child.”
She added that the “unique relationship between a single mother and her child is forged in the fires of struggles and victories. It’s a bond characterized by a love and survival against the odds.”
She reportedly met Phillips at a sporting event

Phillips and Sperling reportedly met at a 2024 sporting event involving their daughters, per Hello!.
In addition to Sperling’s daughter, Phillips has two daughters, Savannah and Isla, whom he shares with his ex-wife.

Phillips and Sperling made their public debut in May 2024 at the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire, U.K., where they were seen chatting with Queen Camilla. They were joined by his daughters, Savannah and Isla.
The month before, in April 2024, a rep for Phillips confirmed that he and Lindsay Wallace had split after three years of dating.

On Aug. 1, Phillips announced he and Sperling were engaged after a year of dating.
In a statement to Hello!, a spokesperson for the couple said the couple’s families “were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement. Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement.”
According to the statement, “No date has officially been set for the wedding.”
Phillips popped the question with a “timeless” engagement ring. 77 Diamonds co-founder Tobias Kormind told PEOPLE that the ring appears to be a “trilogy design, likely showcasing a central oval or round diamond, flanked by trapeze-cut or triangular side stones.”
A piece similar to that design would typically be priced at £10,000, Kormind said.
