People were shocked and saddened today when the news broke that Kelly Clarkson‘s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, died at the age of 48 after a 3-year long battle with cancer. The family made a statement indicating that he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
Clarkson and Blackstock were married from 2013 until they finalized their divorce in 2022. They share two children together, River and Remington.
Though the two of them had a highly public relationship, most people might not realize that Clarkson is Blackstock’s second wife, as he was married once before.
Who Is Brandon Blackstock’s First Wife?
Blackstock was married to Melissa Ashworth from 2001 to 2012. She’s 51 years old, and they share two children together, Savannah Blackstock and Seth Blackstock.
In 2014, Ashworth did an interview with RadarOnline where she touched on her relationship with Clarkson. She reportedly said, “I love Kelly and we get along great, and my husband and I hang out with them all the time.”
Ashworth is also a grandmother, as daughter Savannah had her first child, Lake Easton Lee, in 2022. Savannah is now 23, and she announced that she is pregnant with her second child just one month before her father’s death.
