White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt gave an update on President Donald Trump’s health Thursday after images circulated online of his swollen legs and bruised hand.

Images of Trump’s bruised and bandaged hand, as well as swelling in his legs, sparked speculation about the president’s health. Leavitt read a letter from Trump’s physician during a press briefing, telling reporters the president underwent physical examinations and has chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), but is in good health.

“The president underwent a comprehensive examination including diagnostic vascular studies, bilateral lower extremity intravenous doppler ultrasounds were performed and revealed chronic venous insufficiency, a benign and common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70,” Leavitt told reporters.

“The president remains in excellent health,” Leavitt added.

Trump underwent a physical earlier in his term, seeing his doctor in April. Trump weighed 224 pounds, and had a blood pressure of 128/74, with a resting pulse of 62 while scoring 30 out of a possible 30 on a cognitive test, according to a memo released at the time of the physical.

Trump was taking two medications to control cholesterol, a cream for a skin condition and aspirin as a preventative measure at the time of the physical, according to the memo.

The health of America’s presidents has received extra attention over the last year after Democrats were stunned when former President Joe Biden stumbled through his debate performance against Trump. The performance caused Democrats to force Biden out of the race for the White House. Since, the legacy media has taken interest in how Biden’s condition seemingly went under reported for a majority of his term. Prior to the debate performance, the Daily Caller reported that Biden had made 148 mistakes in his public remarks spanning from January to April 2024, all which the White House had to correct.
