Get your white hats ready — Scandal is now streaming on Netflix, starting June 17.
The Shonda Rhimes drama premiered on ABC on April 5, 2012, concluding its seven-season run on April 19, 2018. Scandal gripped viewers season after season, diving into the ethical dilemmas of D.C. politics that Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and her team of associates, including Abby Whelan (Darby Stanchfield), Huck (Guillermo Díaz) and Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes) helped to clean up.
Along the way, the members deal with their own challenges, including Olivia’s love triangle with President Fitzgerald “Fitz” Grant (Tony Goldwyn) and Jake Ballard (Scott Foley), her fraught relationship with her parents, the yearning for more power and all of the drama in between.
Rhimes revealed to Entertainment Weekly in May 2025 that she considered a spinoff for Scandal based on the covert government agency, B613, focusing on the group led by Olivia’s dad, Rowan Pope (Joe Morton).
She explained, “We really tried to look for shows that could stand on their own two feet, that were their own thing. If you spin off a character, what people want is more of the same.”
So where is the Scandal cast now? Here’s everything to know about what the actors have been up to since the political thriller ended seven years ago.

Kerry Washington starred as none other than Olivia Pope, D.C.’s designated “fixer.”
Washington starred in Scandal for all seven seasons and appeared in all 124 episodes. Throughout her run, her character held a wide variety of high-power roles, including the founder of Olivia Pope and Associates, White House press secretary, White House chief of staff and more.
After Scandal wrapped, Washington mourned the end of the series, telling PEOPLE in April 2018, “What I will miss most about Scandal is the community, the people, not being able to see my closest friends every single day.”
Prior to joining the drama in 2012, Washington starred in projects including 2001’s Save the Last Dance and 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Fantastic Four. In the years after Scandal ended, Washington’s career continued to flourish as an actor, producer and author.
She starred in several movies, including Netflix’s American Son, The Prom and The School for Good and Evil, in addition to Tyler Perry’s The Six Triple Eight and Shadow Force. Washington is no stranger to television, either, appearing in the adaptation of Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere and UnPrisoned, in addition to authoring her 2023 memoir Thicker Than Water.
Today, Washington is slated to appear in the third installment of Knives Out, called Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, and has a spinoff of Desperate Housewives in the works at her production company.
Off-screen, Washington has been married to her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, since 2013. The couple are parents to three children: daughter Isabelle, son Caleb and Asamugha’s daughter from a previous relationship.

Tony Goldwyn starred in all seven seasons of Scandal as Fitzgerald “Fitz” Grant, the 44th president of the United States and Olivia’s on-and-off-again romantic interest.
In March 2024, Goldwyn recalled to PEOPLE how Scandal ended up on his radar through his connection with Rhimes.
“I had met Shonda several years before, when I directed one of the first episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and worked for her for a couple of years on that, and then I didn’t see her for eight years and suddenly she thought, ‘Wow, Tony’d be an interesting choice for Fitz,’ ” he explained.
Before Goldwyn starred in Scandal, he had a decades-long career as an actor, including his breakout role as Carl Bruner in 1990’s Ghost opposite Patrick Swayze. He also voiced the titular role in 1999’s animated film Tarzan and starred in 2000’s The 6th Hour and 2003’s The Last Samurai.
After Scandal’s seventh season wrapped, Goldwyn’s career continued, and he appeared in several Oscar-nominated films, including King Richard and Oppenheimer. He also guest-starred in seasons 3 and 4 of Hacks and joined Law & Order in February 2024 after Sam Waterston’s exit.
Goldwyn has continued to expand his career behind the camera and directed 2024’s Ezra, which starred Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Robert De Niro and more.
Goldwyn has been married to his wife, Jane Musky, since 1987. The couple are parents to two children: daughters Anna and Tess.

Bellamy Young portrayed Mellie Grant during all seven seasons of Scandal, treating fans to her journey from first lady to senator, all the way to the 45th president of the United States.
Reflecting on her role as Mellie, Young told PEOPLE in March 2018, “I couldn’t be any less like Mellie. To play her has changed me — it really has.”
“It started out as such a small part — I could never dream it would turn into the ride it did,” Young shared in March 2018 on Steve Harvey’s talk show, Steve. “I know she’s fictional, but I feel like Mellie has dreamed of being president since she was in diapers. Sometimes I get really overcome — I’m so happy for her.”
Before she appeared on-screen, Young got her start as an actor on stage. She made her Broadway debut in 1997 in The Life, per Playbill, before she went on to guest star across various shows, including The Drew Carey Show, The West Wing, NCIS, Private Practice and more.
After Scandal, Young starred in both seasons of Prodigal Son, appeared in an episode of Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings and shared the screen with her former costar Scott Foley in Whiskey Cavalier.
Off-screen, Young began dating her husband, musician Pedro Segundo, in 2017, and married in 2020. They celebrated six years together in September 2023, with Young writing at the time, “I feel so indescribably lucky to get to share this life with you. Here’s to all that’s to come!”

Scott Foley found himself in a love triangle as Jake Ballard during Scandal‘s six-year run. While Jake was Olivia’s on-and-off-again love interest, he also had a dark side as an operative and commander of the secret government agency B613.
Foley shared the impact that Scandal had on him during an April 2018 interview with PEOPLE, explaining at the time, “It’s hard to put into words what the show had done for me.”
“I’ve never been a part of something that has really captured the zeitgeist like Scandal has, and to be an integral part of that, I’m extremely grateful,” he explained. “I understand how fortunate I am and how rare an occurrence it is … To be a part of a drama that makes it to 100 [episodes] is a big deal.”
Before he portrayed Jake, Foley had his breakout role as Noel Crane in Felicity before starring in Scream 3 as Roman Bridger, the one and only Ghostface in the movie. Foley also played Bob Brown in the CBS drama The Unit and had a stint on Grey’s Anatomy and True Blood.
Since Scandal ended, Foley has continued to act in films and on TV, including as Will Chase in Whiskey Cavalier alongside Young. He also appeared in Will Trent, The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry and La Dolce Villa. In present day, he’s slated to star in the Scream franchise again and will star alongside Matthew Lillard in Scream 7.
Foley has been married to his wife, Marika Domińczyk, since 2007. The pair are parents to three children: daughter Malina and sons Keller and Konrad.

Katie Lowes played Quinn Perkins (formerly Lindsay Dwyer) in the series, which followed her journey from associate at Olivia Pope & Associates to junior operative at B613 to head of the firm.
Despite her character going through some seriously shocking and “crazy” storylines throughout the show, Lowes told PEOPLE in December 2021, “There’s too many incredible memories.”
“We have something called Scandal fam, and it’s really true,” she added. “We are a hardcore family. We’re on a WhatsApp chain with all of us [and] our significant others. We text each other daily, birthdays, congratulations and hanging out. And we have reunions. We’re just really close.”
While Lowes is best known for her portrayal of Perkins, she got her start in the early aughts and landed her first TV role in 2004 on Rescue Me for one episode. She continued to make brief appearances on several series, including The Sopranos, NCIS, Castle and more.
In the years since Scandal wrapped, Lowes has kept busy and has starred in projects like Christmas Takes Flight, How We Roll and a two-episode stint on This Is Us. She also starred in Netflix’s hit Inventing Anna based on the true story of Anna Delvey.
Lowes has been married to her husband, actor Adam Shapiro, since 2012. They are parents to two kids: son Albee and daughter Vera.

She later appeared in films, such as 2004’s The Picture of Dorian Gray and 2007’s Waitress.
Most recently, Stanchfield was cast in 2020’s Stargirl and starred as Nina Locke in the Netflix series Locke & Key.

Jeff Perry portrayed the cunning Cyrus Beene on Scandal as President Fitzgerald Grant’s right-hand man. His character was the White House chief of staff before becoming President Mellie Grant’s vice president.
Reflecting on his ruthless character during a July 2024 episode of Shondaland’s podcast Unpacking the Toolbox, Perry shared, “What Shonda did that was a great gift for any actor was that she made sure Cyrus was never unredeemable. He didn’t just seem to be the devil. … There was a little bit of compassion and love, something human and frail in there.”
Perry began his career in the theater and is a co-founder of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago alongside Gary Sinise and Terry Kinney. He worked for the theater for years until he moved to Los Angeles, where he got his big break as inspector Harvey Leek in Nash Bridges.
Perry continued to make guest appearances on popular shows over the years, including Frasier, The West Wing and Lost. He also starred in multiple episodes of Grey’s Anatomy as Meredith Grey’s father.
Since Scandal, Perry has continued to act, including roles in Inventing Anna, Alaska Daily and Monsters.
He was briefly married to Laurie Metfcalfe and despite the couple’s split, they remain good friends to this day. They share one daughter, Young Sheldon star Zoe Perry. The actor later remarried in 1989 to casting director Linda Lowy, and they welcomed a daughter named Leah.

Guillermo Díaz portrayed the mysterious Huck throughout the entirety of Scandal, working as an associate at Olivia’s firm as well as a black ops agent for B613.
Díaz spoke to Vulture in April 2013 about why fans continue to root for Huck despite his actions as part of B613, explaining, “He’s broken. He’s emotionally crippled, but at the same time he’s trying to change.”
“We see him torture and kill people, yet we see him struggling with that,” Díaz continued. “He cries over it and wants to be a different man, and I think that’s what people love about him.”
In the ’90s, Díaz starred in the cult classic Party Girl opposite Parker Posey as well as in Stonewall as the drag queen La Miranda. He continued to appear in a wide range of projects, including Half Baked, The Sopranos, Law & Order and Chappelle’s Show.

Joshua Malina portrayed the show’s moral compass (at least for a time), assistant U.S. attorney turned attorney general, David Rosen. In the middle of the series, he began a relationship with Abby Whelan until he died in the series finale at the hands of the then-Vice President Cyrus Beene.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in April 2018, after the show’s finale, Malina reflected on the secretive nature of the show to protect plot points. At the time, he said, “I had seven years of don’t say anything every time I would do an interview or had a fan interaction.”
“Now that the show is over and I’m talking to you, I still find myself guarding it, but there’s no more secrets to be kept and it’s kind of a relief,” he explained.
Malina has acted on-stage and on-screen, making his Broadway debut in A Few Good Men, per Playbill, before starring in Leopoldstadt beginning March 2023.
He appeared in various projects in his early career, including The American President, before starring in Sports Night from 1998 to 2000 and The West Wing from 2002 to 2006.
After Scandal, Malina played President Sieber on The Big Bang Theory, in addition to appearing on episodes of The Good Doctor, This Is Us, Shameless and American Auto.

Joe Morton played the master manipulator Elijah “Eli” Pope — known as Rowan — in Scandal, the complicated father to Olivia Pope and the commander of B613.
Morton spoke to the Washingtonian in February 2014 about how he got involved with Scandal in the first place, calling it a “fortunate of circumstances.” He shared, “I was out [in LA] at the end of the season last year, and I had heard of the show and obviously knew who Kerry was, and I started watching on Netflix.”
“I really loved the writing, really loved the way it was shot, the way it was directed, so I thought, ‘I wonder if there’s a way I can find my way as a guest onto the show,’ ” he recalled thinking.
Morton continued, “But before I had an opportunity to talk to any of my representation, my agents or managers or whomever, they called me and said the show had called them asking if I wanted to do a part on the show. So I put it out there in the air and somehow it managed to make its way back.”
He worked as an actor for decades before the hit drama, including stage and on-screen productions. He made his Broadway debut with Hair, per his bio, followed by a role in the Tony-nominated Raisin.
His filmography spans dozens of titles, including roles in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Speed and Blues Brothers 2000. He’s also routinely appeared on popular series, including arcs on Smallville, Law & Order, The Good Wife and Eureka.
Since Scandal ended, Morton has starred and appeared in multiple projects, including God Friended Me, The Politician, Our Kind of People and Going Dutch.
