Sweet deals can be had on Shark Tank, but Sugardoh Hair Removal landed a rather sour finish in Season 16. After pitching her sugar-based hair removal product, entrepreneur Aliyah Marandiz couldn’t smooth-talk her way to an investment (much like what happened to ENERGYbits from Shark Tank Season 8).

Marandiz wanted $500,000 for just 5% equity. No go; all five sharks declined to proceed. Yet despite leaving the tank without funding (which happens to more than half of the dreamers who get aired), she received what so many founders enjoy, whether they receive a yay or nay: brand exposure.

Was being in the spotlight enough to keep Sugardoh Hair Removal from dissolving into obscurity? By all accounts, it didn’t hurt. Incidentally, taking hair off the body via sugaring shouldn’t hurt much, either, according to the Sugardoh Hair Removal website. (Read about certain body parts you really shouldn’t wax.)

Though Sugardoh Hair Removal is a private company, its net worth is thought to exceed $8 million annually as of early 2025. However, it’s not evident if the company is turning a profit, although it’s chugging along and producing content.

To be fair, Sugardoh Hair Removal was gaining attention before making its Shark Tank debut. Yes, Shark Tank may have introduced the company to a new audience. But many customers had discovered the product way before they saw the episode because of Marandiz’s grassroots and bootstrapping advertising efforts on social media.

In fact, immediately after putting Sugardoh Hair Removal into the public eye, Marandiz hit TikTok buzz paydirt. And her momentum wasn’t a one-hit wonder. As she explained in a CanvasRebel interview from 2022, “Since our September 2020 launch, we’ve had a viral TikTok every month driving sales.” The only problem, she added, was keeping up with the initial flood of inventory demands.

It seems as if Marandiz has put all those early supply chain woes behind her. Today, Sugardoh Hair Removal can be found in Ulta Beauty and on Amazon, as well as on the brand’s site. A Shopify report suggests that as of 2025, Sugardoh Hair Removal kits can be purchased at Urban Outfitters as well, but a search on the Urban Outfitters site doesn’t turn up the brand’s products.

Educational content for awareness

In addition to TikTok, Sugardoh Hair Removal keeps up a fairly consistent flow of content on other social media platforms. In response, its YouTube channel has earned more than 10,000 followers, and its Instagram follower count is around 71,000 as of 2025. That said, the brand blog seems to have been abandoned since 2023, which was well before Marandiz’s Shark Tank visit.

In terms of its offerings, Sugardoh Hair Removal remains light on options. Yes, it has a core lineup of products and a couple of tools, but that’s about it. However, the company does seem to be putting a premium on keeping the content on its Sugaring School pages fresh. There, a constant flow of free educational information helps the sugaring-curious determine how to make sugaring work for their hair removal needs and avoid the causes of ingrown hairs.

In 2023, Marandiz declared to Essence, “I want Sugardoh to be an international brand available in 1000s of retail stores across the globe so we can give more hairy bodies access to a healthy relationship with hair removal.” At this point, it doesn’t seem like she’s reached her goal, but her business is still open for orders.
