Every first Monday in May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art becomes the epicenter of the fashion world, and the 2025 Met Gala is poised to be one of its most culturally resonant events yet.
This year’s event, set for May 5, promises to be a rich tapestry of cultural homage and sartorial elegance, centered around the theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

What is the Met Gala 2025 theme?
The theme for this year coincides with the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s spring exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s seminal work from 2009, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the gala and its accompanying exhibition aim to explore the profound impact of Black dandyism on fashion. Furthermore, it will examine the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.
Notably, this is the first Costume Institute exhibition to focus on menswear since 2003’s “Men in Skirts.”
Who is hosting the Met Gala 2025?
Guiding the evening are co-chairs Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary chair.
This year’s Met Gala will also have a host committee, made up of André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Jordan Casteel, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Jeremy O. What is the dress code?
The Met Gala 2025 dress code is “Tailored for You,” which is a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. Attendees are invited to interpret the theme through their personal lens.
