In just a few short weeks, Freevee will be a thing of the past.
Amazon recently informed subscribers that the free, ad-supported and on-demand streaming service will only be accessible until August 2025.
“Continue watching your favorite Freevee Originals and our library of hit movies, shows and live TV on Prime Video for free, no subscription needed,” according to a copy of the written notice obtained by USA TODAY. “Download Prime Video to get started and sign-in with your Amazon account.”
Sarah Morgan, an Amazon spokesperson, confirmed to USA TODAY that the tech giant has decided to “phase out Freevee branding,” a decision that was announced in November 2024, about nine months after ads were introduced on Prime Video.
“There will be no change to the content available for Prime members, and a vast offering of free streaming content will still be accessible for non-Prime members, including select Originals from Amazon MGM Studios, a variety of licensed movies and series, and a broad library of FAST Channels – all available on Prime Video,” Morgan said in a statement.
Here is what to know about Freevee, including how long it will be available.
When will Freevee shut down?
The Freevee app will be available for download until August 2025.
