Ayo Edebiri’s appearance at the 2025 Met Gala was well worth the wait.
For the first Monday in May, the actress, comedian, and star of The Bear wore a custom gown courtesy of Maximillian Davis and Ferragamo that paid homage to her family roots. The impressive ensemble was a true ode to the art of tailoring and featured a floor-length hem and contrasting maroon beading. She paired it with a black leather trench coat and transparent mesh gloves, giving the illusion of an avant-garde traditional tuxedo. On the carpet, the actress shared that the look was created with some of the dandies in her life, like her father and grandfather, in mind.
Edebiri’s glam paired perfectly with the look; she opted for a slicked-back bun, front kiss curl bang, neutral smoky eyeshadow, and perfectly lined lips.
Edebiri’s appearance tonight marks her sophomore season for fashion’s biggest night. Last year, the star wore a floral crochet gown from Loewe for her Met Gala debut, one of many standout fashion moments from the actress and her dedicated stylist, Danielle Goldberg. The star recently shared with The New York Times how crucial Goldberg’s styling has been as her career has seen a transcendent rise, since she won simultaneous Golden Globe and Emmy awards for her work on The Bear.
“We have these conversations,” Edebiri told the outlet. “Sometimes it will be, like, an ode to Whoopi. Then I can have that in my mind when I’m out there taking pictures, which is fun. It’s like an actor telling a story…. I get to be myself but also have this armor of the clothes.”
