“Wednesday,” one of Netflix’s biggest hits of all time, returned to the streamer with its second season on Aug. 4 and racked up 50 million views in its first five days of streaming.
That puts it right on par with the debut of Season 1 n November of 2022. At the time, the Netflix Top 10 was ranked in order of hours viewed, and “Wednesday” debuted with 341.1 million hours in five days. But divided by Season 1’s runtime of six hours and 49 minutes, that translates to roughly 50.1 million views, just above the new Season 2 statistic.

Though Seasons 1 and 2 appear about even in terms of views, it should be noted that Season 1 premiered with all eight episodes at once, whereas Season 2 premiered with only four episodes — Part 2 will premiere on Sept. 3. Therefore, not only will the currently available episodes continue to rack up viewership in the coming weeks, but another massive viewership spike can be expected next month.
Season 1 of “Wednesday” is Netflix’s No. 1 most popular English-language TV title ever and its No. 2 TV title overall, with only Season 1 of South Korean drama “Squid Game” outranking it. Because Season 2 has attracted a similar audience size with even less content available, it’s plausible that Season 2 could usurp Season 1 to claim a new Netflix record if the extended release schedule helps drum up more interest in the show.
Naturally, “Wednesday” Season 2 was the most-watched title on Netflix during the week of Aug. 4-10. According to Netflix, Season 2 Part 1 has already broken the record for the highest number of countries in which an English-language TV title has reached No. 1 of the week, with 91 total. And overall, the second-most-watched English-language TV title of the week was “Wednesday” Season 1 thanks to renewed interest in the series.
“Untamed” was No. 3 on the chart with 7.2 million views in its fourth week, followed by “The Hunting Wives” with 4.7 million views in its third week and the Aug. 4 edition of “Raw: 2025” with 3 million views. “Leanne” had its second week on the chart at No. 6 with 2.8 million views, tying with the debut of “Perfect Match” Season 3. Rounding out the bottom of the chart were “Amy Bradley Is Missing” (4 million views), “Ms. Rachel” (2 million) and “Conversations With a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes” (1.7 million).
