President Trump and first lady Melania Trump traveled to Texas Hill Country Friday morning to survey the damage from flooding that has killed at least 120 people in recent days.
While in the Lone Star State, the president participated in a roundtable with first responders and local officials in Kerr County. The visit comes as more than 160 people remain missing as search and rescue efforts continue.
The Trump administration has faced some heat over funding cuts to weather forecasting and disaster relief in the wake of the disaster. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has also been under scrutiny over reports that the federal response was held up by a rule requiring her approval on certain grants.
The president has voiced his confidence in Noem despite the criticism.
