President Trump hosted a roundtable Thursday evening with members of the Fraternal Order of Police — the nation’s largest group of law enforcement officers.
The event came amid turmoil between Trump and former White House special government employee Elon Musk. The tech billionaire recently departed the administration, where he served as a key adviser to the Department of Government Efficiency’s efforts to cut down on government spending and overhaul the federal workforce.
In recent days, Musk has been a vocal critic of House Republicans’ “big, beautiful” spending package full of Trump’s legislative priorities — which he called “pork-filled” and a “disgusting abomination.” His comments against the GOP megabill have caused a rift between him and the president.
The roundtable was scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. EDT.
