Quinta Brunson is proud of her height — and she isn’t alone.

While hosting this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live, the Abbott Elementary creator and star gushed about her return to the sketch show, boasting, “I’m proof you can do anything you put your mind to, even if people look down on you… Whether it’s because of where you come from or literally because you’re only 4‘ 11.“

Brunson then launched into a jazzy song, celebrating her status as a short queen and revealing some moments when her small stature has come in handy.

“I’m a cheap date ’cause I get wasted off one glass of wine,” she admitted. “I went for a walk in the park the other day and didn’t even realize I had won a limbo competition.”

The actress also shouted out other superstars around her height, including 4-foot-8-inch Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, 5-foot-5-inch rapper Kendrick Lamar, and 5-foot-7-inch actor Tom Holland.

Then, Brunson — and the crowd — were startled by the sudden appearance of a surprise guest: “Espresso” singer and fellow shorty Sabrina Carpenter, who stands at 5 feet.

“What are you doing here?” Brunson asked.

“You were talking about being short, so I thought I’d stop by,” Carpenter replied.

Immediately, the duo began bonding over their diminutive figures, with Brunson asking, “One shorty to another: When you eat short ribs, does it just taste like ribs?”

“I never thought about it like that… but yeah!” Carpenter responded. “Here’s a question for you: When you read short stories, do they feel like novels?”

Brunson’s answer? “Yes!”

The pair then sang about all the cool things their height allows them to see — including door handles, window ledges, people’s knees, and The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White (who is 5 foot 7) — before getting interrupted by short king and SNL cast member Marcello Hernández.

“I just thought I would come stand next to you because it makes me look super tall,” the 5-foot-6-inch comedian explained.

The guest stars didn’t stop there. Next came Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade, who claimed that, at 6 foot 4, he is considered short for the NBA: “In basketball world, that’s like 4’ 10”.”

Hernández, Carpenter, and Brunson took a moment to absorb this as Wade towered over them, but they eventually relented and let him join them for the grand finale.

“It’s how we like our movies, and how we like our margins,” they sang, now accompanied by a group of backup dancers. “We’ve been the same height since kindergarten / Life is just more fun when you’re fun-size / Now it’s time for the show / Quinta’s here and we’re live!”
