Outlander: Blood of my Blood had its global premiere last Friday, treating viewers to the first two episodes at once. Long-time Outlander fans have only heard bits and pieces about Claire and Jamie’s parents over the past seven seasons of the original series. Now, we’ve finally witnessed the very beginning of their origin stories, including how each couple met. Spoilers ahead only for episodes that have aired to date: “Providence” and “S.W.A.K. (Sealed with a Kiss)”.
In the season premiere, Red Jacob, the powerful laird of Clan MacKenzie, dies without leaving an heir. A power struggle breaks out between his sons, Colum (Séamus McLean Ross) and Dougal (Sam Retford), both of whom want to marry off their youngest sister Ellen (Harriet Slater) to different clans for their own gains. Ellen has no desire to marry at all…that is, until a chance meeting with Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), the illegitimate son of Lord Lovat, who is persona non grata at Castle Leod, the MacKenzies’ home.
In the show’s alternate timeline, Julia (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), Claire’s parents, were on a brief holiday in Scotland when they sustained a severe car accident. While wandering after the crash, they stumbled upon none other than Craigh Na Dun, and both passed through the stones into 1714. However, the couple became separated after entering the 18th century. Julia was kidnapped on the side of the road and taken to Castle Leathers, the home of Clan Fraser, where she is forced into service for Lord Lovat. Henry, however, wanders into a crowded tavern. While looking for Julia, he accidentally talks his way into becoming a solicitor for the ruthless Isaac Grant.
An exclusive clip from the next episode of Blood of my Blood shared with T&C reveals a bit more how the Grant family is going to intersect with all of the parties involved. Per Starz, “In episode three, as the oath-taking ceremony to determine who will be laird of Clan MacKenzie approaches, Ellen hatches a new plan to protect herself and her family. Julia is forced to make an impossible choice.”
The third episode will premiere on Friday, August 15, followed by one new episode every Friday through October 10, 2025, with the exception of October 3. All episodes will stream on Starz. Watch now
