What happens when you task RuPaul’s Drag Race alums with recapping every season of the legendary reality competition series? As India Ferrah might say to Phoenix: Prison, honey.
Okay, not quite, but Entertainment Weekly‘s full, exclusive series recap with the All Stars 10 cast of queens (above) is still criminally good, as the returning contestants react to the show’s wildest, shadiest, most harrowing developments across the last 16 years.
In a spicy summit on Drag Race seasons 1-17, each of the AS10 queens — Acid Betty, Aja, Alyssa Hunter, Bosco, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Daya Betty, DeJa Skye, Denali, Ginger Minj, Irene the Alien, Jorgeous, Kerri Colby, Lydia Butthole Kollins, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Nicole Paige Brooks, Olivia Lux, Phoenix, and Tina Burner — offer shady hot takes and behind-the-scenes tea on their own seasons.
“That crash-out went on for about an hour,” Ginger explains of the memorable Shakesqueer acting challenge on season 7, which led to RuPaul scolding her daughters for their collectively awful performance during the segment. “She let those bitches have it. Mother was mad!”
Acid also looks back to season 8’s notorious Kimonogate, which saw multiple queens hit a Madonna-themed runway wear kimonos inspired by the pop icon’s “Nothing Really Matters” music video.
“Not only did half the cast wear kimonos, they made us take photos of what we were wearing, and every girl that was eliminated before us brought a kimono,” Acid reveals.
Looking back to season 3, Phoenix reflects on the hilarious moment that she and India entered the Werk Room wearing identical outfits and nearly indistinguishable wigs — a moment that has become a recurring meme in the fandom.
“One of the biggest questions people have is, ‘Was that planned?'” Phoenix explains. “We’re both in patent leather and a similar wig. Everybody thinks it was the exact same wig. It wasn’t!”
Outside of their own experience, the cast of queens also breaks down other standout moments from Drag Race her-story, including season 1 star Tammie Brown’s meltdown during the show’s first-ever reunion, during which she verbally sparred with RuPaul.
“That was so iconic. It was the first time that any of the queens stood up against the judges,” Aja remembers. “I remember sitting there thinking, is this happening? Is she in trouble? She didn’t care!”

The cast also reacts to red-hot fights that have happened on the set. From Mystique Summers Madison vs. Morgan McMichaels on season 2 to Tamisha Iman vs. Kandy Muse on season 13, the queens celebrate the spiciest tussles, but also speculate that some of them could’ve gone in a vastly different direction.
“Y’all are lucky,” Nicole, who’s familiar with Tamisha on the Atlanta drag scene, adds.
“It was kinda crazy because I’ve known Kandy for a very long time, and I’ve never seen her get that pissed in my life,” Aja says of watching her New York City drag daughter clash with Tamisha in the moment.

“We know Tamisha from Atlanta,” Phoenix observes. “When Kandy was starting, I was like, this is going to end very, very badly!”
