Virginia’s House Democratic Caucus announced an over $9 million television advertising reservation in the state’s largest media markets ahead of November’s state House elections.

The ad reservation will cover the Washington, Richmond, Norfolk, and Roanoke media markets, and include over $8.5 million in the last three weeks before Election Day.

According to the state House Democratic Caucus, the reservation is the earliest and largest single-day TV reservation in its history. Additionally, it’s the earliest fall-time reservation made by any committee or campaign in Virginia’s 2025 campaign cycle so far.

“This is how we not only protect our majority, but expand it,” said Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Don Scott (D). “House Democrats aren’t just reacting — we’re setting the pace. This ad buy is about making sure voters hear directly from us, early and often, about what we’re doing to protect their freedoms, lower costs, and move Virginia forward.”

Virginia is one of the two major statewide elections taking place in 2025, along with New Jersey. In addition to the House of Delegates, lieutenant governor and attorney general races, the governor’s race is also up for grabs.

Democrats currently hold a narrow 51 to 49 majority in the lower state House chamber. Other Democratic groups have poured money into the party’s effort to defend their majority.

In April, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) announced it is investing seven figures in the battle to keep the Democratic majority.
