Victoria Monét’s daughter Hazel is in good company.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at Elaine Welteroth + birthFUND’s Mother’s Day Party with a Purpose event on Saturday, May 10, in Los Angeles, the 36-year-old “On My Mama” singer was proud to share how her baby girl is socializing as she grows.
“She just met Chanel Iman’s kids yesterday at her Chasa launch event,” Monét said of the 34-year-old model.

Other attendees at the L.A. event included Kelly Rowland, Jeannie Mai, Sophia Bush, Tika Sumpter, Chudney Ross and more.
“So she was super happy to run into them today,” she added of her 3-year-old getting to see Iman’s girls at the Party with a Purpose event. “She’s having lots of play dates. She’s ready to be social and have besties and swim dates and all of that.”
Monét welcomed Hazel on Feb. 21, 2021, with her then-boyfriend John Gaines. She and the fitness trainer later split in late 2023.
Since her birth, Hazel has been just as busy as her famous mom. At 2½ years old, the toddler became the youngest Grammy Award nominee of all time for her feature on Monét’s track titled “Hollywood.”

“Her resume is kind of lengthy already,” Monét smiled as she told PEOPLE. “She’s Grammy nominated. She’s already singing and dancing.”
Hazel also does well in front of the camera.
“We just had her first cover shoot with her and I for BET. Yeah, it’s lit for her. So I think that the sky’s the limit. She’s in soccer lessons, she’s in ballroom lessons, she’s in school. She’s over there doing artwork right now,” the “Coastin’” singer said.

Monét also shared the lessons motherhood continues to teach her as Hazel gets older.
“I don’t think that anyone can really prepare you for everything because each mother’s experience is completely unique,” the three-time Grammy winner said, adding that it comes with “lots of nuances, lots of learning curves.”
Monét previously told PEOPLE that her baby girl is always paying attention to what her mother does, becoming particularly fond of one of her songs called “Smoke,” though the sweet moment did come with a bit of an awkward moment.

“When I took her to this restaurant, we had gotten out of the car and she was in her stroller and she was trying to tell me, ‘I want to go back in the car and listen to Smoke.’ But she was saying, ‘Mommy, let’s go smoke. Go smoke.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this sounds terrible to everyone right now,’ ” she said. “I just had to give everyone a disclaimer like, ‘We do not smoke together. I have a song called “Smoke” that she has heard.’ ”
At Elaine Welteroth + birthFUND’s Mother’s Day Party with a Purpose event, the singer-songwriter shared her philosophy about being a parent to a young child.
“I believe one of the reasons why God made it so that around three and four, we don’t really remember anything before [is] because our parents are still figuring it out. So that’s his way of giving us a bit of grace to figure things out before our kids start to remember what kind of parents we are,” Monét told PEOPLE.
