Valerie Bertinelli and Wolfgang Van Halen found a creative way to spend Mother’s Day.
On Sunday, May 11, the celebrity chef, 65, shared a video on Instagram of her and her son, 34, getting matching ink together.
“Getting the second half of our matching tattoos,” she wrote in the caption. “To the 🌙 and back@wolfvanhalen my biggest blessing and most fulfilling joy is being your mother.”
“Love you Maaaaaaaaaa,” Wolfgang replied to the post.
The video shows tattoo artist Tokyo Hiro drawing a small sphere that appears to be either a globe or a full moon near Bertinelli’s elbow, while “Dreams” by the Cranberries plays. At one point, he jokingly says “whoops,” giving her a laugh.
Bertinelli and her son then hold out their arms to show off the identical ink. The pair previously got matching tattoos of a family crest on their wrists in 2015.
The mother-son duo recently collaborated on another project, when Bertinelli appeared in a horror-themed music video from her son’s band, Mammoth WVH.
In the video for “The End,” Wolfgang performs for a club filled with zombies and vampires.

Wolfgang, whose father is late Van Halen frontman Eddie Van Halen, shows off his guitar shredding skills in the video. Bertinelli was married to Eddie from 1981 until 2007. He died from cancer in October 2020.
Bertinelli, who gets in on the action to fight the menacing creatures, praised the experience in an Instagram post on May 3.
“A ridiculous amount of fun was had for two days,” she wrote, going on to compliment Robert Rodriguez, who directed the video.
“His passion and joy for his craft is truly contagious,” she added. “And thank you, Robert for the lesson on how to throw a punch on camera. 👊🏼 I can’t believe after all these years I’ve never done that. So much f—ing fun!”
