This is the third time Usher has attended the Met Gala after appearing for the first time in 2023
Usher is a “superstar” when it comes to styling at the 2025 Met Gala.
The “My Boo” singer, 46, took a break from his Past, Present, Future Tour to deliver his latest look for the third year in a row on the Met steps — and serve a role as a member of the host committee.
Stepping out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5, Usher wore a classic black three-piece suit that he paired with a bowtie, a silver button closure chain, a glittering brooch as well as a white scarf, tossed carefully over his shoulders as he posed alone at first, then, with his wife Jennifer Goicoechea.

Usher arrives at the 2025 Met Gala.
Last October, Vogue announced Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would be co-chairs for this year’s Met Gala, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair. The event, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which is the theme for the gala.
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton shared that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code for this year is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. This year’s event also has a star-studded host committee, which Usher is a part of, alongside Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee and Angel Reese.

The R&B superstar is no stranger to serving sleek looks. For last year’s Met Gala, he brought in a bit of drama with a massive cape and matching black hat to complete his look for the theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
Usher was seen rocking a sparkly black suit underneath his cape, along with a black leather hat, plenty of decorative rings, a ruby in his ear and a bright red rose in his hand. His suit jacket also had a fun hidden detail — roses that could be seen peeking out from underneath his cape.
He continued the theme, even after the big style event at his “Secret Garden” Met Gala afterparty at the Times Square Edition. He was photographed wearing a red velvet suit with a large boutonniere of red roses, gold feathers and leaves pinned to the suit jacket, according to photos obtained of him at the event.
He topped off with red-velvet pointed-toe shoes as he partied alongside his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea, and other guests, including Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union. The musician made sure to dazzle his guests — both figuratively and literally — accessorizing the look with dark sunglasses, black-colored nails and silver and ruby red chains and rings.

The year prior, the “OMG” musician made his debut at the 2023 Met Gala in a black suit by Bianca Saunders, a London-based menswear designer. He accessorized the sleek all black suit with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, gloves and white Christian Louboutin loafers for the Karl Lagerfeld-themed evening.
“This one completely is an honor of Karl, every aspect of it, from the jewelry selection, to what we chose in terms of the wardrobe,” Usher explained his look to Vanity Fair.
“The silhouette is very clean. I want everything to be as perfect as it can be,” he added. “The wardrobe should be touched, looked over, I just want to make sure that I didn’t miss any detail. And if there’s nothing that was overlooked or that I considered, everything is fine pressed — starched and I’m ready!”
