‘Twilight’ Star Has Worn Same Clothes for Years After Leaving Hollywood originally appeared on Parade.
Nikki Reed has taken a minimalistic approach to her life outside of Hollywood.
The Twilight actress, 37, revealed during an appearance on the “Art of Being Well With Dr. Will Cole” podcast that she has been wearing the same clothes for more than a decade, opting to repair her damaged items over the years rather than buy new ones.
“I’ve got vintage pants on and they’ve got a bunch of holes,” she explained. “And if I were to turn around and show you my butt pockets, you would see that my mom helps me patch the back of them because I wear the same pants.”
In addition to her clothing, Reed frequently repairs her shoes to extend their lifetime.

“I’m wearing my same shoes right now that I’ve worn for 15 years,” she said. “I just got them resoled. I resole them every three years because I wear the same shoes every day.”
Reed noted that an item’s potential for longevity motivates her decisions when she does shop.
“Before I purchase anything at all, I think about where it’s made, how it’s made and how long I’m going to wear it,” she shared, adding that her passion for sustainability factored into her and husband Ian Somerhalder’s decision to step back from the spotlight.
She continued, “It’s just been so, so long. I really am a nature gal, an animal gal. I would much rather be barefoot walking through soil than in high heels anywhere.”
Reed and Somerhalder, 46 — who have been married since April 2015 and share two kids — retreated from Hollywood in recent years, with the 2019 Netflix series V-Wars serving as both of their most recent acting credits. During their hiatus, Reed has been focused on her sustainable jewelry company, Bayou With Love, and her supplement company, The Absorption Company, while Somerhalder has been producing and taking on environmental work.
