Travis Kelce understood the assignment for his engagement to Taylor Swift.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, wore a navy polo shirt and white shorts for the proposal, which took place in a flower-filled garden. He added brown loafers and sported a buzz cut. The couple, who started dating in 2023, announced the news in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift, 35, wrote in the caption.
For the engagement, the “Cruel Summer” singer wore Ralph Lauren’s Striped Silk-Blend Dress, which retails for $398. The white mulberry silk blend midi dress features delicate black stripes, smocked bodice and a flowing A-line skirt. The item also has removable straps — and is almost sold out, of course.
The Grammy winner kept her accessories minimal, adding simple brown heeled sandals. She wore her hair in soft waves and sported her signature red lipstick.
Swift’s engagement ring, an Old Mine Brilliant Cut, was a collaboration between Kelce and jewelry designer Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry. She also wore her go-to Cartier Santos Demoiselle watch.
After Swift’s New Heights podcast debut on Aug. 13, Guinness World Records revealed that she broke a new world record.
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, the British organization said that Swift’s appearance pulled in “the most concurrent views for a podcast on YouTube” that day with a total of 1.3 million. Per Guinness World Records, the episode has received more than 20 million views at the time of publication.

During the episode, the couple opened up about how they first met and Kelce’s public date proposal, which involved the athlete planning to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
Swift also announced her upcoming 12th studio album – The Life of a Showgirl — with the help of Travis and his brother Jason Kelce on the podcast.

She shared an Instagram post formally announcing the LP — which is produced by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback — on Aug. 13.
