There’s something about Tracee Ellis Ross’ style that always feels timeless and polished, no matter what she wears. Last night in New York City, the Girlfriends alum took on hosting duties for the inaugural “Black Hair Reimagined: The New Era of Beauty” show by Echelon Noir Productions.
For the special evening, Ross was joined by celebrities such as Justine Skye, Paloma Elsesser, and Solange—whose son, Julez Smith, modeled at the event. She kept her look sleek and high-fashion, wearing unreleased, ox-blood red slouchy wedge boots by Balmain from Olivier Rousteing’s Fall 2025 collection. If anyone can make a case for the return of the wedge boot, it’s Ross.
She styled the statement footwear with an all-black ensemble, including black pants and an oversized zip-up jacket. Though the clothing palette stayed minimalist, the accessories delivered full impact. With chunky gold bracelets stacked on both arms and near shoulder-grazing earrings, Ross delivered a masterclass in letting your jewelry do the heavy lifting.
According to a press release, the night was a “celebration of Black art through the medium of hair and the artists who have made that fantasy tangible today.” The star-studded affair is among the first to kick off this weekend’s Met Gala activities.
With the countdown to the first Monday in May officially underway, stars are descending upon New York in full force. While Ross has yet to confirm whether she’ll be attending this year’s gala, rumors are swirling that she may appear alongside her brother Evan Ross and their mother, the legendary Diana Ross.
