As speculation heats up over the next James Bond, one name that keeps coming up is Tom Holland. During an appearance on Gordon Ramsay’s YouTube, Holland acknowledged the rumors.
“Can you imagine what’s going to happen to your life if you do?” Ramsay asked Holland if he did take on the Bond role. “You’d love the opportunity, right?” The actor replied, “Every young British actor, it’s the pinnacle of working in our industry. I already consider myself to be the luckiest kid alive, you know? I could never have dreamed to have the career that I’ve had.” Holland is busy, however: He’s set to star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, both alongside his fiancée Zendaya.
Other British actors have shot down the speculation, including Taron Egerton, who recently said “I think it would be wasted on me,” and Henry Golding, who said playing 007 is “every actor’s kind of nightmare.”
News has begun to come out about the 26th installment of the James Bond franchise; director Denis Villeneuve will helm the film, and Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will write the script. “Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007,” Villeneuve said in a statement. “I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor.”
