Tom Bergeron Has Talked to DWTS About Returning For Season 34 originally appeared on Parade.
Dancing With the Stars parted ways with Tom Bergeron five years ago after he made some public comments about the casting choices. After a brief stint where the show was only on Disney Plus and had Tyra Banks as a host, Conrad Green returned to the show as the executive producer and righted the ship.
But Bergeron has not been back in the ballroom — not for the 500th episode during season 33 (though he was invited and declined) and not for the tribute to Len Goodman during season 32. Goodman was the long-time head judge who passed away after a battle with cancer in 2023.
But now, Bergeron tells USA Today that he has had a conversation with executive producer Green, whom Bergeron calls his “good buddy,” about returning for season 34.

“[Green has] been largely responsible for getting the show back on track,” said Bergeron, adding, “We did have lunch, and we did talk, and I offered a scenario where I might come back for a night in a certain capacity. The Mirrorball is back in their court now.”
Bergeron was speaking to USA Today to promote his new program Dancing With Sharks, which he is hosting for the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. The gist of the show is that “five divers compete to put together an amazing underwater routine with their toothy partners. From hammerheads to tigers and nurse sharks, each shark has its own signature dance moves. At the end of the show, a winner is crowned – if all the competitors make it that far.”
Dancing With Sharks premieres Sunday, July 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery. Former Dancing With the Stars pro Allison Holker also appears as one of the judges. The other two judges are journalist Kinga Philipps and comedian Pete Holmes.
Dancing With the Stars returns for its 34th season on Tuesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Hulu.
