Tish Cyrus once got too high from a weed brownie at daughter Miley Cyrus’ birthday party
The podcaster has been open about her relationship with marijuana in the past, along with her sobriety
She and daughter Brandi rebranded their podcast Sorry We’re Cyrus to reflect Tish no longer smoking weed
Tish Cyrus and her daughter Brandi are reminiscing on high times.
During the Tuesday, July 15 episode of Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey, the mother-daughter duo recalled a time when Tish, 58, got way too high from a weed brownie at one of daughter Miley Cyrus’ birthday parties.
Jowsey, 28, asked Tish if there was a time she “accidentally got too high” before she became sober. “It was not good at all,” Tish said. Brandi, 38, chimed in that it had happened “a few times.”
The incident that Tish recalled happened when Cyrus, 32, had a birthday party at Beacher’s Madhouse in Hollywood.
“Miley would have parties there and it was a whole thing, but this was actually before I smoked, and I ate some brownies at the party,” Tish explained, saying that she went home and then fell asleep.
Two hours later, “everything was spinning and I was coming freaking unglued,” Tish continued, “and I actually called Miley and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, Mile. I feel so weird and so sick. I need to go to the emergency room. You have to come get me right now.’ “
Tish said the “Flowers” singer was concerned and recalled Tish being fine when they saw each other a few hours ago. “She was like, ‘Did you eat something? Tell me,’ and I was like, ‘No. The only thing I ate was a brownie.’ and she goes, ‘At Beacher’s?’ and I’m like, ‘Yes.’ “
Miley informed Tish that she had eaten a weed brownie and asked how much of it she ate. Tish had eaten the “whole thing.” “She’s like, ‘Holy crap,’ ” Tish continued.
Brandi pointed out that instance was an “accidental time” she had gotten too high. “There’s been a few on purpose times you’ve gotten too high.”

“When [her sister] Noah played in Denver, Colorado, you were so stoned you couldn’t speak,” Brandi continued. “You were mute, and then you tried to get yourself back to my apartment and I had to call someone to let you in because you literally weren’t speaking.”

“Maybe it’s good I am sober,” Tish responded. Brandi, meanwhile, said she “doesn’t really smoke weed.” “I’ve tried it a few times and it’s just, like, not for me.”
Tish has been open about both smoking weed and her sobriety in the past. She was a self-described stoner for a decade and began smoking weed in her 40s following a traumatic experience while on tour with Miley.

After years of smoking, she revealed that she stopped smoking weed in October 2024.
“Everybody knows that I love smoking weed. Weed was my brand,” Tish said in an Instagram video, announcing her and Brandi’s podcast rebrand from Sorry We’re Stoned. “But I have now not smoked for five months. So we are back with a new name, Sorry We’re Cyrus.”

Months later, on the since-rebranded Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast, she shared that she stopped smoking “by accident.”
“I went on vacation and it was somewhere I could not have pot and like three days in, [I] had the worst anxiety I’ve ever had in my life. And when I tried to smoke again… Nope,” she said in January.
After years of smoking to help quell her anxiety, Tish found that the drug only made things worse.
“I’m seven months in and I’m still having so much anxiety and I’m so afraid to try to smoke again because the last time I did them it made it worse.”
