The Minnesota Timberwolves secured their fourth straight win with a 131-122 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by Julius Randle’s 28 points and Anthony Edwards’ historic 10,000th career point, setting season-high shooting records in the process.

The Minnesota Timberwolves continued their red-hot streak with a commanding 131-122 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, marking their fourth consecutive win. The game was a showcase of offensive firepower, with the Timberwolves setting season-high records in both field goal and three-point shooting percentages.

Julius Randle’s All-Around Performance

Julius Randle was the standout performer of the night, delivering a stellar all-around performance with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. Randle’s 13 points in the third quarter were instrumental in building a 20-point lead for the Timberwolves, who outscored the Cavaliers 43-22 in that period. His ability to score, rebound, and facilitate the offense was crucial in maintaining the team’s momentum.

Anthony Edwards Makes History

Anthony Edwards added 25 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds to the Timberwolves’ effort. In doing so, he became the third-youngest player in NBA history to reach 10,000 career points, joining the elite company of LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Edwards, who is 24 years and 156 days old, achieved this milestone with a 13-foot fadeaway jumper midway through the fourth quarter. Only seven players in NBA history have reached the 10,000-point mark before turning 25.

Edwards’ achievement underscores his rapid ascent as one of the league’s most dynamic young stars. His ability to score, create for teammates, and impact the game on both ends of the court has been a key factor in the Timberwolves’ success this season.

Timberwolves’ Offensive Explosion

The Timberwolves’ offensive explosion was evident from the start, as they began the game with a 17-5 run. They finished the night with season-high shooting percentages, making 51 of 89 field goal attempts (57%) and 20 of 38 three-point attempts (53%). This offensive efficiency was a testament to the team’s ball movement and shot selection.

Jaden McDaniels contributed 26 points on an efficient 11-for-14 shooting, while Donte DiVincenzo went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc to finish with 22 points. The Timberwolves’ ability to share the ball and knock down shots from all areas of the court made them a formidable opponent for the Cavaliers.

Cavaliers’ Late Surge Falls Short

Despite the Timberwolves’ dominant performance, the Cavaliers made a late surge to narrow the deficit. Sam Merrill scored 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter, including a crucial three-pointer with 2:56 left that cut the deficit to four points. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 30 points and eight assists, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Timberwolves’ early lead.

The Cavaliers played without forward Dean Wade, who left their previous game with a bruised left knee. His absence was felt, as the Cavaliers struggled to contain the Timberwolves’ offensive onslaught.

Timberwolves’ Season Resurgence

The Timberwolves have been on a tear since Thanksgiving Day, posting a 15-5 record over that span, the best in the NBA. This resurgence has been fueled by a combination of strong performances from their core players, improved defensive play, and a renewed sense of team chemistry. The victory over the Cavaliers further solidifies their position as one of the top teams in the league.

Looking Ahead

The Cavaliers and Timberwolves will face off again in Cleveland on Saturday afternoon for the second game of their two-game season series. The rematch promises to be an exciting contest, as the Cavaliers will look to avenge their loss and the Timberwolves will aim to extend their winning streak.

For the Timberwolves, the focus will be on maintaining their offensive efficiency and defensive intensity. For the Cavaliers, the key will be to find a way to slow down the Timberwolves’ high-powered offense and capitalize on their own scoring opportunities.
