Mexican influencer and MasterChef contestant Yanin Campos died on Aug. 4 at age 38

Mexican influencer and former MasterChef contestant Yanin Campos died on Aug. 4 at age 38.
“To family and friends. We inform and mourn the death of my sister Yanin Campos,” shared Campos’s brother Raúl in a translated post on Facebook.
Campos was driving in her home city of Chihuahua, Mexico, when she collided with a parked vehicle at around 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 2, the Mexican Secretariat of Public Security told local newspaper El Financiero.

According to the outlet, the influencer was rushed to a local hospital and died two days later. The newspaper also reported that local authorities are investigating whether excessive speed or distracted driving played a role in the collision.
Yanin gained a following in 2018 after her appearance on MasterChef México, placing sixth for her culinary expertise. Though she fell short of the top prize, Yanin was invited back the following year to appear on MasterChef México: La Revancha (translated to “the revenge”), where she faced off against several of her season’s contestants again.

Following her stint as a TV chef, Yanin transitioned to posting lifestyle content on her social media platforms, including comedic videos on her TikTok, where she had nearly 100,000 followers.
According to Raúl’s post, Yanin’s family held a wake on Aug. 4 to say goodbye to the content creator.
