Rachel Uchitel, the journalist at the center of Tiger Woods’ infamous 2010 scandal, tied the knot with businessman Dan Donovan in a private, glamorous New Year’s Eve ceremony — 16 years after the fallout that shattered her public image and forced her into rehab.

The wedding bells rang for Rachel Uchitel and Dan Donovan on December 31, 2025 — not in a cathedral or celebrity venue, but in their own renovated home surrounded by close friends and family. The couple exchanged vows before 130 guests, blending elegance with intimacy amid subtle nods to Uchitel’s grandparents’ legendary New York City nightclub, El Morocco.

Uchitel, now 50, told People she chose the setting deliberately: “We love our home, and it felt more intimate to host it there,” she said. “We just completed a major renovation, and this was the first time we’re hosting since it was finished — it truly came down to the final days before everything was ready.” Her decision wasn’t just practical — it was symbolic, a quiet triumph over past turmoil.

Their romance began on Bumble, but didn’t blossom until months later when they finally met face-to-face. Uchitel moved to Florida to be closer to Donovan, who had been living there all along. Their connection deepened quickly, culminating in marriage just months after he proposed on their eight-month anniversary in March 2025.

“We were friends for a few months, then stopped talking because I didn’t think I was ready to date and he wanted more. A few days later, I realized how much I missed him, agreed to go to dinner, and we’ve been together ever since,” Uchitel shared with People. Motivational speaker Tim Storey, who also walked her down the aisle during her father’s funeral, officiated the ceremony — adding layers of emotional resonance to the day.

While Uchitel has always been candid about her life post-Woods, she never fully disclosed how deeply the scandal affected her mental health — until now. In interviews following HBO Max’s 2021 documentary Tiger, she revealed she suffered from “love addiction,” a condition she initially dismissed as absurd. “I’m not going to go into rehab with people that have real addictions, like heroin and alcoholism or whatever, and say that I’m a love addict,” she recalled telling Us Weekly.

But after Dr. Drew Pinsky insisted she needed help, Uchitel agreed to appear on his show Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. There, cameras captured her vulnerability as she confronted her compulsive tendencies toward emotionally intense relationships — ones fueled less by affection and more by a desperate need for validation.

She explained: “Something about myself, which I hope people can understand is that when somebody of a high caliber looks at you and as everyone else wants to know that person, and that [person] only wants you, that’s the ultimate kind of credibility for yourself … And how do you say no to that?”

Her diagnosis wasn’t just psychological — it was cultural. Uchitel noted society often confuses intensity with love, mistaking passion for permanence. “I will say that that is a very real thing that I think people don’t have awareness about. It’s where people mistake intensity for love and people sort of look to someone else to gain credibility for not feeling credible inside,” she added.

The fallout from her relationship with Woods — who was married to Elin Nordegren at the time — triggered media frenzy and public scrutiny. Uchitel eventually sought professional help through Dr. Pinsky’s program, a move that ultimately helped her rebuild her self-worth without relying on external validation.

Today, she stands as proof that healing isn’t linear — and sometimes, the most profound transformations begin quietly, behind closed doors, among loved ones.
