Tiffani Thiessen is one of the most iconic ’90s actresses of all time, but that doesn’t mean she thinks every trend of the decade should make a comeback.
The Saved by the Bell star, 51, opened up about the topic while chatting exclusively with Parade for her partnership with Chili’s and their new ’90s-inspired Radical ‘Rita.

“Do you remember Z Cavariccis? There were these pants that were a cross between a mom jean and gathering like pleats in the front,” Thiessen explains. “They were not attractive. I don’t know why we wore them. I never really wore them a lot. I was more of a classic Levi girl, but I remember boys and girls wearing them.”
She adds with a laugh: “They were not attractive. You could either have a small waist or bigger hips or vice versa. It didn’t look good on anybody. They were terrible. I’m really happy they didn’t come back.”
Though Thiessen says that style of pants can stay in the ’90s, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum tells Parade she’s more than happy that Chili’s is getting in on all things ’90s with their new Radical ‘Rita, which serves as their signature $6 margarita for the month of May.
“I have to say I have a nostalgic sort of connection to Chili’s myself,” Thiessen says. “My husband, [Brady Smith], loves Chili’s. We used to hang out at Chili’s actually when we first started dating, which is hilarious. I used to meet him at the bar, and we have many, many memories of Chili’s before we got married and before kids. So, it was actually kind of a full-circle sort of thing for me to be asked to launch their new margarita for May.”
Crafted with Lunazul Blanco Tequila, house-made sour, Monin Dragon Fruit, and a float of Blue Curaçao, the Radical ‘Rita comes with a retro-inspired swizzle stick, and even changes color when you mix it. Thiessen goes on to tell Parade that the new Radical ‘Rita is perfect for a night out with the girls, or even to refuel after training for a triathlon — which of course, comes with an explanation and is based on her and Smith’s early dating days.

“We would do a lot of training for marathons and triathlons together when we first started dating. And there were a couple friends that we would do it with, and we would always meet up at Chili’s afterwards. So that was kind of our thing,” she says. “This was before we got married, this was when we were dating. So Chili’s was kind of our fun go-to splurge kind of lunch or dinner after a long train day where we had been running for many, many miles or swimming or biking or whatever. And we would go to a very specific Chili’s in the valley, and would hang [out] for a couple hours. We would definitely throw back the food and the drinks for sure.”
The new Radical ‘Rita is available at Chili’s for the month of May.
