It’s time to pull back the void-like curtain on Lewis Pullman’s Sentry costume in Thunderbolts*.
While the main threat in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest movie has long been rumored to be Sentry, there has yet to be an official confirmation. So far, Pullman’s character has just been called “Bob,” although a recent international trailer name-dropped both Sentry and the Void, which comic book fans know means the actor is playing Robert Reynolds, a man with a split personality and near limitless power.
Until now, the character’s actual costume has been shrouded in secrecy. And while we still likely won’t see Pullman in his supersuit until the movie hits theaters, Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive video of his fellow Thunderbolts* stars unveiling official merch, including a Sentry action figure.
In the clip, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Wyatt Russell take turns unboxing officially licensed figurines of the Thunderbolts* antiheroes from branded cereal boxes. After they each take out bobblehead versions of their own characters, Stan then reveals the Sentry toy.
The character’s comic-accurate gold and blue costume with a blue cape can clearly be seen as Stan deadpans to the camera, almost dropping the bobblehead of Bucky Barnes. He then pushes the two figurines together and jokes, “None of this is normal.”
Harbour later reveals an even more detailed version of Sentry’s costume with a different action figure made in the likeness of Pullman. The heavily muscled figurine shows off Sentry’s “S” belt, along with his blue boots and gauntlets. But Harbour is more interested in how the Red Guardian toy is “a little thinner” than he is, calling it “flattering.”
Meanwhile, Pugh loves how her Yelena figurine has a movable head and can do splits. “That’s wicked,” she says. And Russell notes that his U.S. Agent toy doesn’t bend at the knees. “We’ll work on that,” he adds.
Thunderbolts* semi-confirmed the real identity of Pullman’s character earlier this month in a trailer by acknowledging one of his names. “I am the Void,” Bob declares. “There’s no use fighting… You don’t know what I’m capable of. Maybe I need to show you.”
A separate international trailer then mentioned his character’s other name when Mel (Geraldine Viswanathan), Val’s (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) assistant, says, “Sentry’s gone off the rails and he’s dangerous. The Avengers are gone. No one is coming to save the day.”

Val further confirmed who Bob is by describing what he’s capable of: “He’s invincible, all-powerful, stronger than all of the Avengers rolled into one.”

In the comics, Robert “Bob” Reynolds steals a highly unstable government-funded drug intended to recreate the Super Soldier Serum that gave Steve Rogers his powers. But Bob, who suffers from schizophrenia and anxiety, doesn’t share Rogers’ mental stability and strong moral compass. So, while he gains Superman-like powers from the serum, he also experiences an unfortunate side effect, developing an evil alter-ego called the Void. Bob then subconsciously creates a superhero persona, Sentry, to keep the Void in check.
While Marvel has yet to officially confirm Bob’s identity as Sentry/Void, the two trailers, along with Hasbro recently unveiling images of its Marvel Legends toy line featuring Sentry, have made it one of the MCU’s worst-kept secrets. At least now, the Thunderbolts* cast members have all but confirmed the character for fans ahead of the movie’s release on May 2.
