The Secret Debt Luke Bryan Has to Carrie Underwood’s Youngest Son originally appeared on Parade.
Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood may share the American Idol stage, but it seems Bryan’s closer to her husband, Mike Fisher.
In a recent interview with The Boot on “Taste of Country Nights,” Bryan, 49, opened up about his friendship with Fisher and their shared love of fishing and hunting.
However, it’s not just the two of them who enjoy these outdoor adventures — Underwood’s youngest son, Jacob, is a big fishing fan too, which is where Bryan’s “debt” comes in.
The “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” singer revealed, “Underwood’s youngest son loves to fish, so me and Mike owe him a fishing trip as soon as it’ll cool off a little bit in Nashville.”
When asked whether Jacob would rather fish with his mom or with Bryan, the country star joked, “Well, it’d be like the equivalent of like my sons going up to Mike’s Kentucky deer hunting place, I think they’d want to.”
Bryan promised that once the weather cools, he’ll take Jacob fishing. “We’re gonna have fun with all of that, and I love taking the kids fishing, so maybe I got a little cool points,” he said.
Over the years, Underwood and Bryan have developed a close bond, often speaking highly of each other. Bryan shared on the same podcast, “I really enjoyed getting to know Carrie as a wife and a mother and who she is.”
He added, “I really appreciate her as a human being and an artist and a mother….she’s just a pro in music and in life. We had a great time getting to work with each other on Idol.”
Fans are excited to see the duo reunited on the upcoming season of American Idol, and hopefully by then, Bryan will have paid off his fishing trip debt.
