Ben Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner won’t be at the 2025 Met Gala — and there’s a reason. In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Garner said that she went to the event in 2007 but hasn’t back since.
“I went to the Met ball exactly one time,” Garner said. “I found it a little scary so I haven’t been back.”
“I wore—that night—this magical red Valentino gown. And I was his date and that was really majestic and special,” she continued, referring to Valentino Garavani.
Meanwhile, Affleck has hit the Met Gala red carpet a few times, most recently with his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez. The two turned heads at the event in 2021, after rekindling their romance.
Last year, Lopez hit the gala solo shortly before news of her split from Affleck was confirmed. At the time, a rep for the Argo actor said he couldn’t attend one of fashion’s biggest nights because he was in Los Angeles working, per People. It was a particularly telling moment as Lopez served as co-chair — and she didn’t disappoint. She wore a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown.
“I was really honored to be asked to host it alongside Zendaya and Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. Anna [Wintour] was gracious enough to ask me. We’re going to have a good time,” JLo said on Good Morning America before last year’s Met.
“It’s such an interesting mix of artists and business people. It’s not just music or film, it’s everybody — fashion, film, music, business — and you get to have some really interesting interactions,” she added.
