It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s Rachel Brosnahan!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star is on the road to promote her new DC film, Superman, in which she plays the titular character’s colleague and eventual love interest, Lois Lane. While supporting the film, Brosnahan has proven the “method dressing” trend shows no signs of slowing down, thanks to a series of looks that seem inspired by her comic book character’s work ensembles. And as for her latest, she’s showing us that fashion heroes don’t wear capes, but rather, really chunky belts.
When the Emmy Award-winning star stepped out in New York City earlier this week to continue her movie press, she did so in a red ensemble custom-made by French fashion brand Patou.
Comic book fans will know that Lois Lane is often depicted in sleek businesswear, be it sweaters layered over button-ups, or blazers paired with sharp skirts and slacks. So for this look, Brosnahan brought that same timeless style, but with a few modern spins.
The actor’s minidress featured a tweed sleeveless bodice, with a white collar that contrasted against the scarlet hue of the body. At the skirt, the design leaned into one of the industry’s hottest trends, with a short, gathered bubble hem that added some playfulness to the preppy design. Finally, the piece was given a further dramatic touch thanks to a wide belt, also in tweed, that wove through belt loops along Brosnahan’s stomach.
To complete the fit, the House of Cards alum carried a cherry top-handle mini bag from Brandon Blackwood. Meanwhile, she coordinated with her contrasting collar by slipping into some white tights and pearly Jude pumps, while also popping on a pair of paperwhite sunglasses from Oliver Peoples x Khaite. Talk about giving the people of Earth a fashion ideal to strive towards.
