Emily in Paris is back in production, and it didn’t take long for Netflix to give an official first look at Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, in Rome for the show’s fifth season. The streaming company shared footage of Collins in a black print jumpsuit alongside her Italian love interest Marcello, played by actor Eugenio Franceschini. The biggest change isn’t the show’s new Italian setting, which was teased in the season 4 finale. Rather, it’s Emily’s hair. This season, the character will sport a chic bob, just like Collins in real life.

This isn’t Emily’s first big hair transformation. In season 3, she got blunt bangs. Collins had gotten the haircut herself, and it was written into the show as “trauma bangs.”
When she introduced the look on Instagram, she wrote, “Not exactly trauma bangs… unlike Emily, I didn’t cut these myself! Big thank you to the master @gregoryrussellhair for inducting me into my fringe era and starting Emily’s new hair journey…”

Collins debuted her bob back in June 2024, calling it a “new hair era unlocked.” Of course, Audrey Hepburn’s character, Princess Ann, had a similar chop in Roman Holiday, a film the show sartorially referenced when Emily first went to Rome in season 4, part 2. There’s a chance the writers could nod to that iconic hair transformation with Emily’s own in the script.
Emily won’t only be in Rome this season, however. Production will take place in Paris, too. Emily’s French love interest Gabriel (played by Lucas Bravo) and British love interest Alfie (played by Lucien Laviscount) are also returning, meaning there’s plenty of romance, plot twists, and love triangles (or squares?) in store for Emily.
