Queen Latifah and the cast of The Equalizer are commemorating the show as it draws to a close after five seasons.
Following reports of the crime series’ cancelation at CBS, the Set It Off actress paid tribute to her character Robyn McCall.
“Stepping into a kick-ass role like Robyn was everything I hoped it would be,” Latifah wrote on Instagram. “[My producing partner] Shakim [Compere] and I at Flavor Unit are always excited to bring these kinds of roles and projects to life — and then we just hope you love them as much as we do. The Equalizer blew past every dream we had for it, and having the opportunity to do this for five seasons honestly feels surreal.”
Latifah went on to thank everyone who watched and worked on the series, which ran from 2021 to 2025. “Thank you to our amazing cast, crew, and producers, and writers! And I can’t say enough about the FANS!” she wrote. “Y’all have been so loyal, so loud, and so ride-or-die — and that’s exactly why we keep doing this. We can’t thank you enough. It means the world to us.”
The actress also clarified that she’ll continue starring in exciting projects. “And don’t worry — I’ll be back kicking ass in something new real soon,” she said. “Can’t wait to share it with you.”
Based on the 1980s TV series of the same name, The Equalizer followed Robyn, a single mom and former CIA operative, as she protected vulnerable New Yorkers through vigilante justice.

Laya DeLeon Hayes, who played Robyn’s teenage daughter, Delilah, also reacted to the show ending on Instagram. “Thank you to each and every one of you who has watched and supported our show for the past five years,” she wrote. “This show came into my life right before the pandemic and was a dream come true. I am honored to have grown up on this show. Playing Delilah has been an absolute gift. I am forever changed and eternally grateful.”
Hayes also asked fans to tune in for “one last Equalizer Sunday” on May 4, as the season 5 finale will now serve as the series finale.

I have loved playing Aunt Vi. Thank you, @queenlatifah. The love is so real.”
