And just like that, it’s the first Monday in May. The 2025 Met Gala has arrived, which means it’s again time to embrace your fashion-critic alter ego as we witness some of the most elaborate red carpet looks of the year. This time around, the theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrating 12 key characteristics of dandy style, but the gala’s dress code is the broader “Tailored for You,” all but guaranteeing we’re in for some impeccable suiting moments.

Tonight’s co-chairs are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams (plus LeBron James as an honorary chair), meaning we already have several tailoring heavy-hitters confirmed to dazzle us—but who else might we see? Personally, I’m hoping for a Dapper Dan appearance, as well as some powerful tailoring moments from the women in attendance (Zendaya, I hope you’re listening). Read on for all the must-see suiting from the 2025 Met Gala, from innovative structures to iconic archival pulls and everything in between.

Rihanna

Rihanna arrived very fashionably late to the carpet, but it was worth the wait. In addition to showing off her baby bump for the first time, she wore an impeccable corseted custom Marc Jacobs skirt suit complete with a major hat and polka dot cravat.

Zendaya

Delivering exactly the kind of tailored magic we’d all hoped for, Zendaya arrived at the 2025 Met Gala in a perfectly fitted all-white number (custom Louis Vuitton!) comprising bell-bottom trousers, a jacket with an hourglass silhouette, a waistcoat, a necktie, and a floppy hat (all paired with Jimmy Choo shoes and a few touches of sparkling jewelry). Dandy, indeed.

Doechii

2025 is truly Doechii’s year, and we’re all lucky to be bearing witness. The Grammy-winning musician arrived to the Met in a multi-patterned gray and cream shorts suit from Louis Vuitton complete with a silky oxblood bow tie and Mary Janes with socks, embodying the spirit of dandyism in her own way.

Lupita Nyong’o

Every part of Lupita Nyong’o’s pastel seafoam tailored Chanel creation was breathtaking, from the boater hat to the corsage. But perhaps the biggest highlight was the chiffon cape, which gracefully blew in the wind as the accomplished actress headed out to the Met.

Coco Jones

Taking tailoring into show-stopping blue carpet territory, musician Coco Jones stunned in an embroidered all-white Manish Malhotra ensemble featuring a jacket with a dramatic train, trousers, simple Jimmy Choo pumps, and a luxe, oversized pendant necklace.

Doja Cat is always one to go all-out for a Met theme (remember her Choupette look from 2023?), and the star kept up this energy for the “Tailored for You” theme in a black and silver pinstriped custom Marc Jacobs bodysuit featuring power shoulders and leopard accents. Chappell Roan

This year was Chappell Roan’s Met Gala debut, and the sapphic pop superstar absolutely made a splash. She melded queer and dandy elements in a sparkly patchwork pink custom Paul Tazewell suit with dramatic flared trousers, continuing her streak of show-stopping looks that honor those who came before her.

Colman Domingo and Lewis Hamilton

Both serving as co-chairs this year, Colman Domingo and Lewis Hamilton were bound to bring some peak tailoring moments—and they delivered in two contrasting ways. Domingo went maximalist in a blue pleated Valentino cape with a silver adorned overlay and Boucheron jewelry, while Hamilton opted for an impeccably tailored white custom Wales Bonner suit with beading details, paired with a cool cap and Briony Raymond jewelry.

Lorde has been teasing gender broadening and masc elements when it comes to her upcoming album Virgin, so it’s no wonder that she arrived at the 2025 Met Gala in a perfectly taped gray monochromatic Thom Browne look that fused a crop top and mermaid maxi with a suit jacket draped over one shoulder. The tailored moment—which she paired with Briony. Raymond and Dena Kemp jewelry—only further built anticipation for the music she’ll be releasing this June.

Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams—also a co-chair tonight—capitalized on the power of a well-tailored suit. The music powerhouse and Louis Vuitton men’s creative director took the Met steps in a white pinstriped jacket, form-fitting flared trousers one could argue are an elevated take on bootcut jeans, and his signature sunglasses.

A$AP Rocky

The last (but not least!) of the Met Gala co-chairs to arrive, A$AP Rocky looked cool and put-together in a multi-piece black custom Awge suit paired with dark, diamond-encrusted Ray-Ban wayfarers and a Briony Raymond umbrella—a practical choice for what’s been a rainy day in New York.

Regina King

Regina King’s 2025 Met Gala look was nothing like a traditional suit, and that made it all the more exciting. The award-winning actress’s tailored navy Who Decides War ensemble featured an asymmetrical structured neckline, colorful embroidery, and gold beading, creating a true sartorial work of art.
