  • Texas triplets Cate, Ava and Truman Crawford all graduated from the same college

  • They were inspired to go to Texas Tech after their grandparents met there

  • The siblings received degrees from the school’s College of Media & Communication

Texas triplets have celebrated yet another major milestone with one another — their college graduation.

Round Rock natives Cate, Ava and Truman Crawford recently finished at Texas Tech in Lubbock, inspired to attend the university after their grandparents, Joe and Betty, met at the school.

“When we first toured the university together, it just made sense, even though we never thought we’d all end up at the same school,” Cate said during a Friday, May 16, interview with Texas Tech.

According to the triplets, their parents, Clark and Amanda Crawford, have always raised them to have a sense of individuality despite being multiples.

Still, there are definitely similarities between the siblings, who are all graduating from Texas Tech’s College of Media & Communication.

Truman has a degree in public relations and strategic communication management. Ava holds a degree in creative media industries, and Cate going for digital media and professional communication, per KBTX.

“The fact the college had so many diverse programs that we all found something we like, says a lot,” Truman told Texas Tech.

Speaking to KCBD, Cate said, “Growing up was really fun. Our parents were the best and we had a really fun, but individual experience for each of us really focusing on yes, we are triplets, but we’re also our own individuals.”

“We’ve kind of gone through everything together in life,” added Truman. “High school graduation, turning 16, and getting your first license and all that. To have another monumental step in our life that we’ve all been able to do together, I think for all of us, it’s really valuable.”

The family said it was Truman who first had his sights set on Texas Tech, the rest of them only joined while he visited for a tour before he decided to enroll.

“Truman really wanted to go to Tech, so we all went to tour as a family, and I think Ava and I were a little hesitant,” Cate told her school. “My perception of Lubbock was there was a lot of dust and that was pretty much it.”

Once there, her views quickly changed.

“When we got to Lubbock and did the full tour and spoke with advisors, it felt like the perfect fit,” Cate said.

Truman graduated from Texas Tech six months ago and now works for the Texas Senate under Senator Brian Birdwell on the border security committee. Cate plans to return to the Texas Workforce Commission to be a campaign coordinator for the Office of Media and Communications, and Ava intends to move to Austin to pursue content creation.

“We’re just really excited and we’re gonna miss Texas Tech, but I think it’s a good thing we’ll miss it cause that means it’s meant so much to us over the last four years,” Cate told KCBD.
