Terry Crews says he’s so moved by the “energy of the people” when he hosts America’s Got Talent that in one day, he burned 7,000 calories.

The Brooklyn 99 alum told guest host Nicole Byer on the Aug. 13 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live that he wears fitness trackers because “I’m at the age, I just turned 57 … I need to find out if my heart’s still ticking.”

“I wear these wearables and they tell you how much energy you’re expending,” Crews said. “After one episode — this was crazy — in a day, I burned 7,000 calories.”

After joking that “maybe I had my hand near a heater,” which caused the tracker to malfunction, Crews told Byer that “what happens is the energy of people, the energy of, like, talking and being [with] people, then going out live and then dancing and seeing the acts and jumping around and going around the whole theater.”

Crews said when he comes home, “I’m done. I’m just tired. And I said, ‘7,000 calories. That is nuts.’ “

His stats, Byer said, are “impressive. I once looked at my little steps [counter] and it said 60, and I was like, ‘Am I dead?’ Like it was like a Tuesday. I hadn’t moved at all.;”

To make it through his action-packed day, “you have to be in shape. That’s one thing, I have to condition myself. I literally I wake up. I prepare. I’m  doing my whole thing” he says, as he continues to host the long-running NBC show.

“It’s the hardest, most satisfying, most  wonderful show and job in the world,” Crews said.
