Teddi Mellencamp Shares Hair Regrowth Update After Brain Cancer Surgery originally appeared on Parade.
Teddi Mellencamp is embracing the wins–big and small–amid her ongoing battle with cancer.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 43, took to Instagram to share that her hair is finally growing back after undergoing brain cancer surgery.
“I noticed a real change in my hair regrowth,” Mellencamp wrote alongside side-by-side photos showing the progress. The update comes after months of treatment, including radiation, immunotherapy, and surgery, as she continues to battle stage 4 melanoma that has spread to her brain and lungs.
Mellencamp—who has undergone 17 surgeries since her initial melanoma diagnosis in 2022—explained that radiation left her with visible bald patches, leading some to ask why she hasn’t just shaved her entire head.
“During radiation I lost big patches of hair; those spots aren’t growing hair yet,” she shared. “This is what it looks like when the other hair grows out. So I shave these parts that grow every couple of weeks. I can’t do it every day 🤣.”
And while Mellencamp is making note of the physical improvements she’s experiencing, the toll of living with stage 4 cancer remains.
“Cancer comes with so many emotions: anger, sadness, loneliness,” Mellencamp, whose stage 4 cancer diagnosis was confirmed in early 2025, admitted. “And while I feel grateful that immunotherapy is saving my life, I feel like I live in a fog, and I can’t help but beat myself up on all of the ways I am falling short. I just desperately want to be back to my usual self.”
Still, moments of progress are something Mellencamp is celebrating, no matter how small.
“So this little bit of hair growth, this change from May 12th (second slide) to today, June 16th, made me smile,” Mellencamp wrote. “It’s amazing what my body can do.”

The news of Mellencamp’s hair regrowth comes after the TV personality shared an update on her health during a recent episode of her Two T’s in a Pod podcast, which she co-hosts with fellow Housewives alum Tamra Judge.
During the episode, Mellencamp revealed she had been nervous after experiencing headaches again—one of the initial signs of the brain tumors.
“I had gotten pretty nervous because I started getting headaches again,” she said on the episode. “So I was like, ‘Oh, no, that was the sign of this happening in the first place. I hope it means that the tumors aren’t getting bigger again.'”
Luckily, an MRI brought some comforting news to Mellencamp who said not only have the tumors not grown “at all,” they’re actually shrinking.
“But I am still stage 4 cancer,” Mellencamp maintained, adding, “It’s stage 4 until it’s gone, until I’m in remission.”
For now, Mellencamp says she’ll continue with immunotherapy for two more years in hopes of ridding her body of the disease.
“Hopefully by the end of that I’ll be in remission,” she stressed.
