It’s a big day for Swifties: Taylor Swift officially announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, at 12:12 a.m. early on the morning of August 12th. She did so with a teaser on her website, and a guest appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast “New Heights,” a project he co-hosts with his brother Jason.
For the podcast—the full episode will be released tomorrow—Swift wears a white button-down shirt, and a Sandy Liang skort. Notably, she accessorized with two pieces of Cartier jewelry: the Panthère de Cartier necklace, and the brand’s Santos Demoiselle watch.
The necklace, in particular, could be an easter egg for the themes of The Last Showgirl. Per Cartier, “The panther, the symbolic animal of Cartier, made its first appearance in the Maison’s collections in 1914. Louis Cartier was the first to tame the mythic animal, and his colleague Jeanne Toussaint turned it into a legend. The panther can be fierce, playful, or lovable, displaying all the facets of its liberated personality from one collection to the next.”
Swift is known to tease her music through hidden symbolism. “I love to communicate via Easter eggs. I think the best messages are cryptic ones, so I’m going to lead you through my favorite kinds of Easter eggs to lay,” she said in a video promoting Lover. “Easter eggs can be left on clothing or jewelry. This is one of my favorite ways to do this, because you wear something that foreshadows something else, and people don’t usually find out this one immediately, but they know you are probably sending a message.”
