Taylor Swift Mocks Travis Kelce’s ‘Crazy’ Plan to Meet Her for the First Time originally appeared on Parade.
Taylor Swift turned the tables on beau Travis Kelce during her podcasting debut, putting the athlete on blast the same way he once did her.
The multi-hyphenate can now add podcaster to her impressive resume, joining the football star and his brother Jason Kelce on their hit podcast New Heights to discuss everything from her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl to the inner workings of the start of her relationship with the Chiefs star.
Swift couldn’t help but to gently mock the way he went about trying to earn her favor during her Kansas City stop of the Eras Tour nearly two years ago today, using his podcast as “his own personal dating app” when he detailed his intentions to slip the singer a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
Kelce revealed that the bracelet never left the stadium that night because he was “butthurt” that his plans had failed when he never found his way to Swift’s side that night. Swift couldn’t help but tease him as she exposed his complete lack of “any proper logistical planning” when she revealed that he’d not once reached out to a member of her team to set something up, but instead banked on his friendly relationship with the stadium’s elevator operators to grant him access to her dressing room.
At first, Swift’s feelings were along the lines of, “This dude didn’t get a meet and greet and now he’s making it everyone’s problem,” but the more she thought about it, the more she realized it felt like being in an “’80s John Hughes movie,” with Kelce appearing outside of her window with a boom box to announce, “I wanna date you!”
“If this guy isn’t crazy—and this is a big if—this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager,” she admitted.
Jason came in clutch for all of the curious viewers when he asked the “New Romantics” singer how she determined that his brother wasn’t, in fact, “crazy,” to which she quipped, “He is crazy, Jason.”
But, as she clarified, “He’s the good kind of crazy.” The way he spoke to her during their first few conversations sealed the deal, which she described as very “natural” and “normal.”
“He’s just a vibe-booster,” she continued. “He’s like a human exclamation point.” She sweetly compared him to the “enhance color” button on a photo editing app, telling him, “That’s what you do to everyone’s life.”
