Taylor Swift just announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and fans promptly devolved into a frenzy on social media.
On Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 12:12 a.m. ET, a countdown on Swift’s website ticked down to zero, revealing the major news: The Life of a Showgirl is available for pre-order. A release date and the album cover art have not yet been unveiled.

Swifties had been speculating about a new album for months. But things ramped up on Monday, Aug. 11, when the “Shake It Off” singer’s team posted a cryptic update on the Taylor Nation Instagram account.
“Thinking about when she said “See you next era…” ❤️🔥,” the post read alongside a carousel of 12 pictures of Swift, 35, donned orange outfits during her wildly popular Eras Tour.

Adding to the hype, Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, posted a teaser for a mystery guest on this Wednesday’s episode of New Heights, the podcast he hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.
An Instagram post from New Heights declared, “92%ers, we’re coming back early for a special episode with a VERY special guest. New episode Wednesday 7PM ET.”
Immediately, Swifties suspected the guest would be Swift based on the silhouette and the orange background.

A few hours later, the podcast confirmed that Swift would join the Kelce brothers on Wednesday, Aug. 13. A follow-up Instagram post showed the “So High School” singer sitting next to her Kansas City Chiefs tight end beau while wearing a pair of black headphones.

“Such a nice color on you,” Swift told Kelce, who donned a blue polo shirt in the clip.
To that, the NFL star replied, “Yes, I know. It’s the color of your eyes, sweetie. It’s why we match so well.”
Swift then exclaimed, “We’re about to do a f–king podcast!”
Just after midnight, Swift confirmed her new album in another New Heights sneak peek clip.
“So I wanted to show you something,” she declared while pulling out a briefcase. “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl!“

On X, Swifties enthusiastically reacted to Swift’s 12th album news.
One exclaimed, “I CANNOT WAITTTTTT.”
Someone else wrote, “OH MY GOD.”
