Taylor Kitsch was so committed to his acting career that he wasn’t going to let something like pooping his pants stop him from auditioning.
During a Tuesday, Aug. 5, appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends alongside his Terminal List: Dark Wolf costars, Kitsch revealed that he once lost control of his bowels after a particularly strong cup of coffee minutes before he was supposed to try out for a role.
“I was in L.A. living out of my car and I would get all these crazy auditions, like four in a day, and I needed a strong coffee,” he explained. “And I’m having it driving to the audition. I’m sitting in the waiting room just like this, and I s— myself. No joke. And the bathroom door is right there. And I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’”

Kitsch didn’t make it to the bathroom in time, but that didn’t stop him from making it to the audition.
“I threw my underwear in the garbage can, came back out and waited and did not get the job,” he quipped.

Later, Kitsch said that he couldn’t recall the project in question, but noted, “It had to be a pilot, a TV show of some sort.”
When co-host Jenna Bush Hager asked if it was Kitsch’s hit show, Friday Night Lights, he smiled and replied, “No, I got that one.”

Kitsch played the bad boy Texas football player Tim Riggins on the sports drama for all five seasons.
Despite his successful TV career, Kitsch previously opened up to PEOPLE about struggling early on to make ends meet.
“I was literally sleeping on the subway,” he told PEOPLE in January of his 2002 experience auditioning in New York City.
Earlier in the Today show, Kitsch opened up about returning to his Terminal List role of Ben Edwards for the prequel series, Dark Wolf.
“You’re gonna see a guy kind of go on a redemption tour and you see the relationships fall all around him as well,” Kitsch explained of the series. “It’s like a spy thriller, incredibly authentic, we had Navy Seals with us every moment we’re on set.”
