Tarek El Moussa was involved in a physical altercation with another man during a recent family trip to Las Vegas.
The fight started after the HGTV star, 43, stepped in between his dad an a man that was allegedly harassing him, PEOPLE has learned. El Moussa was cited by police, but not arrested.
According to TMZ, a witness described the scene as “bad” and said the victim was “seriously roughed up.” All parties involved refused medical attention.

El Moussa was cited for battery as a result of the altercation, which occurred on Thursday, June 5 at The Palazzo at The Venetian Resort,
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that officers responded to the battery incident, where two males were involved in a physical altercation resulting in one being cited.
El Moussa’s mother, Dominique El Moussa; his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa; and Heather’s parents were also on the trip, according to an Instagram post the couple jointly shared on Saturday, June 7.

Multiple clips show the married stars enjoying time with Dominique as well as her parents. Tarek’s dad can be seen standing in the background in a few clips, and in the group shot pictured at the end of the video.
Tarek was in Las Vegas to speak at an event, according to the post. He’s seen on stage talking to a crowd of people in what appears to be a banquet hall.

“Not our average Vegas trip…” Heather wrote in the caption. “Watched Tarek do his thing on stage (so proud!) and made it extra special by bringing our parents along for the ride. We got to show them a glimpse behind the scenes — our world, our work, and of course, the glam.
She concluded the post, “Grateful for these moments that we get to spend together.”
Heather and Tarek share son Tristan, 2, and Tarek is also dad to son Brayden, 9, and daughter Taylor, 14, from his previous marriage to Christina Haack.
