Taco Bell Finally Confirms Arrival of Highly Anticipated New Mountain Dew originally appeared on Parade.
Taco Bell fans, the day has finally arrived.
For what feels like forever, fans have been hearing whispers of a summery new Mountain Dew flavor due to release exclusively at the Mexican-inspired chain. Even after some lucky customers were able to try it ahead of its official debut, calling it “amazing” and “delicious,” mum was the word from the brand.
Well, all of that changes today as Taco Bell is finally spilling all the details regarding the highly anticipated new soda flavor–and there’s so much more to come than was initially reported.

On Tuesday, the cult-favorite fast food chain confirmed Mountain Dew’s Baja line would be getting its first-ever spinoff in 20 years with the “bold” release of Baja Midnight, said to blend a refreshing blast of passion fruit flavor with the signature tropical lime flavor of Baja Blast.
“BAJA BLAST has consistently sparked creativity, defied expectations, and continues to be a cornerstone of the Taco Bell experience,” said Taco Bell’s chief marketing officer, Taylor Montgomery, in a statement. “Our fans made it iconic, and they’re the reason we’re expanding the universe for the first time with MOUNTAIN DEW BAJA MIDNIGHT. It’s unexpected, it’s Taco Bell purple, and it’s tasty enough to earn its place in the fandom.”
The “unexpected purple twist” on the “iconic tropical lime flavor fans know and love” will officially release on Thursday, Aug. 14, at Taco Bell locations nationwide ($2.49 small / $2.79 medium / $2.99 large). And unlike other offers from the soda brand (and T-Bell), this new menu item won’t disappear out of nowhere (hopefully) as it’s being added as a permanent drink option.
Oh, but that’s not all. Customers looking for an even cooler way to enjoy it can do so by ordering it as a Freeze ($3.79 regular / $3.99 large). And on Friday, Aug. 15, Taco Bell rewards members can try a medium Mountain Dew Baja Midnight for free when they spend $5 or more in the Taco Bell app.
