Sydney Sweeney is back for her fourth Met Gala!
On Monday, May 5, the Euphoria star, 27, stepped out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in a gorgeous Miu Miu look
Sweeney wore a curve-hugging, sparkling black gown designed with beaded fringe down the sleeves, bodice and skirt. The design also featured a daring cleavage-baring keyhole cutout adorned with a gold flower embellishment. She teamed the look with glittering De Beers diamonds, including a 7-carat ring she designed and purchased herself, according to a release from the brand.
Before hitting the carpet, she shared a photo of actress Kim Novak dressed in a similar ensemble, revealing the inspiration behind her look.
Speaking with Vogue on the red carpet she revealed that the look nods to her role in Colman Domingo’s directorial debut Scandalous! in which she will play Novak opposite David Jonsson who will play Sammy Davis Jr. The film will follow the “forbidden romance at the height of Hollywood’s Golden Age,” per Deadline; their relationship in the 1950s was doomed and ultimately ended when the studio head threatened Davis in order to break the two of them up.
“ I always feel that [Miu Miu] just brings such beautiful stories to every dress,” she said. “So this is actually paying homage to Kim Novak, and I’m doing a movie with Colman Domingo … so we wanted to really just bring that to life.”
To complement the ensemble, Sydney wore her hair tightly slicked down and and wore makeup featuring dark eyeliner and a nude lip.

Last October, Vogue announced Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would be co-chairs for this year’s Met Gala, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair. The event, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which is the theme for the gala.
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton shared that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code for this year is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. This year’s event also has a star-studded host committee, which includes Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese, and Usher.

Sweeney made her first Met Gala appearance in 2022 in a white Tory Burch dress featuring a very signature Sweeney corset bodice. The Met Gala theme that year was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” with a gilded glamour and white-tie dress code.
For the 2023 Anna Wintour-organized event, Sweeney returned to the gala in a shimmering, bejeweled baby doll pink Miu Miu dress accented in the front with a gauzy black bow. She carried the through line up to her hair, pinning another black bow to the top of her billowing blowout hairstyle.

In 2024, the actress stepped out in a sophisticated dress that exemplified the last year’s dress code, “The Garden of Time.”
Looking straight out of a fairy tale, Sweeney wore yet another Miu Miu look that featured a baby blue ball gown with a full tulle skirt that had delicate embroidered flowers on it. The dress had a massive train for added drama, and she amped up her look even more with black opera gloves.
That year, she also shocked fans by departing from her usual long blonde look by rocking a blunt black bob with bangs.

Sweeney has a longstanding relationship with Miu Miu, and has even walked the runway for the brand. She attended their fall/winter 2024-2025 show as part of Paris Fashion Week in France in 2024, wowing fans in a pair of silver silk and wool panties that were embellished with sparkly sequins and rhinestones.
Sweeney’s metallic underwear — which retailed for $5,800 on Miu Miu’s website — also comes in beige (Emma Corin modeled the colorway on the runway in spring 2023) and pink opal.

Speaking with PEOPLE in 2024, the Immaculate actress shared that she wants her style to be ever-evolving — especially at a high-fashion event like the Met Gala.
“I honestly just vibe with whatever event’s going on,” Sweeney said at the time. “It’s always a little bit different.”
“That’s the fun thing about all of this, it’s like playing dress-up. It’s boring to do the same thing over and over again,” she added.
