Sydney Sweeney is looking back on her experience filming her latest movie, Americana. She gave fans a close-up look at her hair change in the movie.
The actress, 27, took to Instagram on Wednesday, Aug. 13, to share a series of snaps from the set of the Tony Tost-directed crime thriller and showed her blonde hair with bangs and large curls.
The first image in the carousel shows the Euphoria actress in a car, looking off into the distance in character as Penny Jo Joplin. Her blonde locks were styled into tight barrel curls, while her bangs curved outward to the sides of her face.

The fourth image in the carousel offered an even better look at Sweeney’s curls. The star took a mirror selfie using a handheld camera and showed her hair backcombed into a subtle, voluminous bump at the crown of her head, while the bangs and ends of her hair were styled into tight ringlet curls.

Other moments in the carousel showed Sweeney’s hair in varying states, from straighter bangs and looser curls, to teased with voluminous waves.
“A few years ago I filmed this little movie with some friends and now you get to meet penny jo,” the actress captioned the post, adding a heart emoji.
Sweeney’s bouncy movie curls are a departure from her hair at the Los Angeles special screening of Americana on Aug. 3 in Los Angeles.
For the screening, the star’s hair was dark blonde. She styled her hair with Old Hollywood-inspired waves and a butter yellow headband.

The actress’ post marked her return to Instagram after her ad with American Eagle jeans was embroiled in controversy late last month because of its tagline, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.”
Critics of the ad claimed that using the word “jeans” as a play on “genes” was racially charged and hinted at genetic superiority. Others took issue with the ad playing into the male gaze and seemingly taking its inspiration from Brooke Shields’ controversial 1980 denim campaign with Calvin Klein.
“You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing,” a 15-year-old Shields said in the ad.

American Eagle later issued a statement in response to the backlash on Aug. 1.
“‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans'” is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story,” the brand wrote on Instagram. “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”
Americana premieres on Aug. 15.
