If you’re tight on money but still want to see some live music, Way Out West Festival accepts another form of payment.
The Swedish music festival, going down in Slottsskogen from Aug. 7-9, recently announced “The Kidney Pass,” which offers hopeful attendees the chance to win a 3-day ticket for the sold-out event if they sign up for postmortem organ donation.
“With the festival just around the corner, some people are saying they’d ‘give a kidney’ for a ticket,” reads a statement posted by organizers on Instagram.

According to Way Out West Festival, “sign ups for the National Organ Registry have decreased by over 30% in recent years,” which led to the idea for “The Kidney Pass.” If fans register, they can enter for the chance to win.
“It’s not giving your kidney for a ticket, but sort of,” continued the post. “It simply means you’re open to the idea of your organs being used for donation in the event of your death. Because one day, your kidney could save a life, when you’re done using it.”
The festival’s website notes that anyone looking to enter for “The Kidney Pass” must be “18 years old and have a Swedish social security number” — and only a “limited amount” of free passes are up for grabs. More details on how to enter are available at the Way Out West website.
Way Out West’s 2025 lineup features acts including Charli xcx, Chappell Roan, Lola Young, Queens of the Stone Age, PinkPantheress, Iggy Pop, the Dare and more.

This isn’t the festival’s first out-of-the-box idea. Last year, the event featured a stage that doubled as an IVF laboratory to “play live recordings from Way Out West’s headlining artists for what might be the largest, yet smallest crowd in history: sperm and eggs getting ‘ready to rumble,'” per Instagram.
Yes, you read that right. In collaboration with designer Love Hulten, Way Out West included “The Future Fan Stage” that aimed “to help create future fans of great music by ‘injecting’ live recordings by the headlining artists into their DNA at the earliest stage possible — before they even develop into fetuses.”
