Harry Styles made an unexpected appearance at Pope Leo XIV‘s election on May 8.
The 31-year-old pop star was spotted by fans standing among the crowds in Saint Peters Square at the Vatican. The Grammy winner was dressed inconspicuously in a blue jacket, sunglasses and a grey IDEA cap that read “Techno is my Boyfriend.”

The photo went viral online and fans were quick with their jokes, with one fan on X writing “they should’ve made him pope” and another writing “wearing a techno is my boyfriend cap at the Conclave u can’t make this up.”
Another fan on X included a photo of Pope Leo XIV — the first American pope — and playfully joked “little did the pope know he was waving to Harry Styles 😭.”
One other fan on X also added “Harry Styles is so random, one day he’s at the Grammys winning Album of the Year, then he’s running a marathon in Japan, but he could also be in Rome waiting for the announcement of the new pope. I love being his fan”

Since the “Watermelon Sugar” singer wrapped up his record-breaking Love on Tour in 2023, he’s remained low-key and enjoyed his well-deserved break from the spotlight. While some fans joked about his “randomness” since his break, Styles has been spotted all around the world.
But rest assured, the “As it Was” singer was spotted leaving a studio in Berlin on April 30, suggesting that his return to music is imminent.
