Rachel Brosnahan spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about the movie magic behind the latest Superman film
At the London premiere on Wednesday, July 2, she recalled a memorable moment on set with costar Edi Gathegi that has stayed with her since wrapping the production

Rachel Brosnahan is excited for audiences to witness the movie magic of the latest Superman film!
The Emmy-winning actress, 34, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE at the Superman premiere in London at Cineworld Leicester Square on Wednesday, July 2. There, she tells PEOPLE that she had moments on the set of the latest DC Comics film that reminded her of her love for movies.
Brosnahan, who stars as Lois Lane, explains that she and Edi Gathegi, who plays Mr. Terrific, were shooting a scene with “one of those balls for VFX.” She then recalls a brief moment when the mirror, reflecting the pair, turned towards them, and “Edi grabbed my arm and gasped and I thought something had gone wrong.” Instead, her costar turned to her “and was really misty-eyed and said, ‘I just saw us in the movie.’ ”
“And it’s one of those moments where, as long as the days can get and as challenging as things can sometimes be on a set, you’re reminded that you’re a part of something that makes you feel the magic that you felt as a kid who loved movies and I’m excited to be able to share that,” she says of the experience with Gathegi, 46.

Along with those special moments on set, the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel alum also looks back on how she and Superman costar David Corenswet prepared during pre-production. Corensweet stars as Superman and his alter-ego, Clark Kent.
“We got to spend some time together before we started shooting, and we got to have a couple of meals,” she says, before noting, “David was having about five meals for every one meal that I was having at that point.”
The actress notes that she and Corenswet, 31, “realized really early on that we’re quite similar in how we work, how we approach this kind of collaboration.”
“That took a big weight off our shoulders. And then we just got to have a lot of conversations with James and with each other and have a good time,” the actress says, referring to the film’s writer-director, James Gunn.

The latest Superman film is conceived as a reboot of the DC Universe, launched by Gunn and Peter Safran.
At a preview event for Superman‘s first teaser release in December, Gunn, 58, and Corenswet told reporters the movie introduces audiences to Clark early in his career as a reporter with The Daily Planet.
“The thing that I was the most worried about was casting Superman at the beginning of this process,” Gunn shared at the time. Of Corenswet, he added, “After the first day, I was like, ‘Oh, I think that guy’s pretty good.’ “
Alongside Corenswet, Brosnahan and Gathegi, Superman stars Nicholas Hoult as the villainous Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, plus Sara Sampaio, Terence Rosemore, Anthony Carrigan, María Gabriela de Faría and Wendell Pierce.
