‘Superman’ Star Is Spotted Holding Hands With Iconic ’90s Actress in Rare Sighting originally appeared on Parade.
Brandon Routh and Rachael Leigh Cook were photographed spending some time together on July 25.
Just Jared reported that a smiling Routh and Cook, who divorced her ex-husband, actor Daniel Gillies, in 2021, held hands after exiting a Los Angeles movie theater. Roth wore a black button-down shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. Meanwhile, Cook sported a black jacket, jeans, and a pair of high heels.
Routh, who is in the process of divorcing his wife, Courtney Ford, and Cook have not confirmed a romantic relationship. However, the pair was together in Routh’s hometown, Des Moines, Iowa, in February 2025, as reported by Just Jared. The official Instagram account for the Des Moines restaurant, HomeGrown, uploaded a photo that showed Routh and the She’s All That actress with members of the staff on February 25.
“It’s a bird… it’s a plane… it’s Brandon Routh! Superman and Des Moines’ own Brandon Routh stopped by Crescent to fuel up before fighting for truth and justice… with kindness, of course. Also visiting us today, the one and only Rachel [sic] Leigh Cook. From Hollywood to Hallmark, She’s All That in our book, and what a treat it was to welcome her to DSM today,” read the caption of the post.
One of Routh’s most famous roles is Clark Kent, AKA Superman, in the 2006 film, Superman Returns. Routh gave his opinion about the 2025 film, Superman, directed by James Gunn, in a July 2025 interview with Nerd Reactor.
“I had a wonderful time [watching it]. I think it’s very exciting that Superman is back. And the energy of the movie is what I was hoping for. To have a love and appreciation for Superman, you can’t please everybody. I’ve been down this road. And this movie just shows you a whole different way to make a movie,” said the father of one during the interview.
Routh also said that he enjoyed David Corenswet‘s version of Superman in the new film, which premiered on July 11.
“I think David was amazing. I really thought his passion for the character, really won out and I’m proud of the work that he did. As a Superman legacy, I think he did excellent,” said Routh.
